Yanfang Ancient Village

Millennium-old Yanfang Ancient Village in Jishui County Yanfang Ancient Village in Jiangxi is a must-visit ancient village. This little-known ancient village is made up of Gan-style buildings from the Ming and Qing dynasties, and still retains 102 buildings from the Ming and Qing dynasties, including ancestral halls, schools, ancient dwellings, ancient wells, archways, and home carvings. Yanfang Ancient Village is located in Jintan Town, Jishui County, Ji'an City, 3 km from the Gan River and 14 km from downtown Ji'an. The village was built in the mid-Southern Song Dynasty, covering an area of 10,000 square meters. It was once rated as the most beautiful leisure village in China and is known as the "Pearl of Ji'an." Admission is free. According to locals, the village was once home to the Jiangyou Merchants (the No. 1 merchant group in the world). After making money, they would return home to build houses and get married, and the cycle would repeat. This is why every family built very large houses, which have been preserved as Yanfang Ancient Village.
