Lazy Traveler's Guide to Nanxun Ancient Town

I've visited many ancient towns, and I think this one is the best value for money. ‼️Transportation ▶️By car Navigate to Nanxun Ancient Town Parking Lot (no specific parking lot recommended, but you know how it is during holidays) ▶️By high-speed rail 1️⃣ Take a taxi from Huzhou Station to the ancient town 2️⃣ Take Bus 101 from Huzhou Station, then take a taxi to the ancient town ‼️Recommended attractions 📍Water Bus (enter from the East Gate, 3💰/person) ▶️Route: Silk Wharf to Shizi Port Wharf ▶️Operating hours: 9:00–16:00 (every 30 minutes) 📍Little Lotus Villa and Jiaye Library (enter from the South Gate, 25💰/person) ▶️Little Lotus Villa was the private garden of Liu Yong, the richest man in Nanxun. The garden is centered around a lotus pond, and the beautiful environment is perfect for taking photos with your friends. 👭 ▶️Jiaye Library is near Little Lotus Villa. It has a large collection of books and a rich cultural heritage. If you buy a combo ticket, don't miss this hidden gem! 📍Yi Garden (10💰/person) ▶️This quiet and pleasant Jiangnan garden is very comfortable and relaxing. Everything is just right, perfectly embodying the essence of Jiangnan aesthetics. 📍Baijianlou (enter from the North Gate) ▶️This group of Ming and Qing dynasty houses is built around a river. The houses are arranged in an orderly fashion, and the white walls and black tiles are decorated with a few weeping willows, like an ink painting. It's a great place to take photos or enjoy a cup of tea. 🍜Local delicacies ▶️Shuangjiao Noodles (Nanxun specialty noodles) Noodles with "fried fish and crispy pork" toppings. One bite is pure happiness. I recommend Zhuangyuanlou, a noodle shop featured on the show "A Bite of China." ▶️Dingsheng Cake (Nanxun traditional intangible cultural heritage cake) Mainly filled with red bean paste and sesame sugar. Fragrant, sweet, soft, and chewy. Great to eat on the spot or take home as a souvenir. ▶️Three Kinds of Tea (Nanxun specialty tea) 1️⃣ Fengxiao Tea: Glutinous rice cake with sugar in water → sweet rice cake tea 2️⃣ Smoked Bean Tea: Smoked beans with condiments (sesame, tangerine peel, dried radish, goji berries, tea leaves, etc.) → salty smoked bean tea 3️⃣ Purple Bamboo Shoot Tea: Green tea with a light finish ⚠️Notes ✅️The ancient town is free to enter, but you need to buy separate tickets for the small attractions. I recommend buying a combo ticket online in advance to save money. ✅️If you're driving, try to avoid peak times, as it's really hard to find parking during holidays! ✅️I recommend wearing comfortable sneakers! The ancient town is large, and some roads are narrow and bumpy, making them difficult to walk on. Unless you have plenty of time or energy, I don't recommend visiting every attraction or popular spot in one day. 👉If you don't know where to go, I sincerely recommend visiting Nanxun to enjoy the scenery of a Jiangnan water town and become a true "Jiangnan idler."
