Trendy and Adorable Dim Sum

A new restaurant called "Gaginang" has recently opened in Citywalk, Tsuen Wan. As the name suggests, it specializes in Chaozhou cuisine. When the restaurant first opened, it offered various promotions. For instance, during my visit, all dim sum was half-price if you downloaded their app and registered as a member (this promotion has ended by the time this article is published). Since the deal was so tempting and the restaurant is close to my home, I couldn’t resist giving it a try. The decor hasn’t changed much from the previous tenant, Tang Palace Little Gathering, except for a few "Gaginang"-themed paintings on the walls. For my first visit, I decided to sample a few dim sum dishes. The Fresh Lychee Balls are shaped like lychees, with a soft outer layer and real lychee flesh inside—quite interesting. The Iron Plate Spicy Soup Dumplings are served on a so-called "iron plate," which is more for presentation than functionality, as it doesn’t keep the dumplings warm. These orange-colored dumplings are bite-sized, with a strong spicy flavor, though their small size means limited soup inside. The bird-shaped dim sum is actually pineapple pastry. It tastes good, but the bird’s expression looks a bit puzzled—haha! The bear-shaped buns are chocolate-filled. Be careful when eating them, as the chocolate filling can burst out unexpectedly, potentially landing on your dining companions—awkward!
