Comfort Food @ Top Ten Congee and Noodle Expert

When it comes to comfort food, Chinese noodles are definitely the top choice! When I was a child, my grandma loved taking me to eat noodles. I still remember the first time I had sashimi was at a noodle shop. The flavorful braised beef brisket and tendons, along with the freshly cooked congee, are all tastes that bring back wonderful memories of my childhood. Tonight, my dad took me to the Top Ten Congee and Noodle Expert in Prince Edward! It's just a few minutes' walk from the Prince Edward MTR station, making it very convenient. The shop is small and the seating is quite close, but since eating noodles doesn't take much time, we didn't mind as long as it was clean and tidy. As soon as we sat down, we saw that there were pickled radishes available for free, which made us very happy! The radishes were crisp and had a perfect balance of sweet and sour, making them very tasty. We started with a snack of deep-fried dace fish balls with clams sauce, $24 for 2 pieces! They were served hot and smelled delicious. The fish balls were crispy on the outside and had a bouncy texture. The fish inside was fresh with no fishy smell, and the salty clam sauce made them even more flavorful. The signature fried rice rolls, $35, had very thin and smooth rice noodle skins! The crispy fried dough inside was not greasy and definitely not leftover. Paired with sweet soy sauce and sesame sauce, it was incredibly tasty. My dad loves pork knuckles, so he ordered the rice noodles with fermented bean curd pork knuckles, $43! The two large pieces of pork knuckles were braised to perfection, with tender meat and chewy skin. The subtle flavor of the fermented bean curd added a unique aroma to the pork knuckles. The rice noodles were smooth and paired well with the fish broth. However, we both preferred the ginger and scallion pork liver rice noodles, $40! The smooth rice noodles had a delicate texture, and the thick-cut pork liver was cooked just right, tender and flavorful. Although it was quite indulgent, it was incredibly delicious. You can find this type of Chinese noodle shop everywhere, but those that truly put effort into making quality dishes are rare. I hope the Top Ten Congee and Noodle Expert continues to maintain this level of dedication to their flavors.
