K11 HACC Past, Present, Future Exhibition

💫⌚️🕰Brief Time Exhibition: K11 Atelier K11 HACC’s new exhibition invites everyone to recall the past, examine the present, and freely imagine the future☺️ Zhang Jianjun returns to the exhibition tour: "Human Traces" A very reflective and non-abstract art performance exhibition! Organized by K11 Art Foundation, co-organized by the Royal Academy of Arts in London, and curated by renowned Chinese scholar Wu Hung, Zhang Jianjun’s return exhibition: “Human Traces” will be on display at K11 HACC in Hong Kong from September 30 to November 14, 2021. "Human Traces" combines the artist's latest thinking on the three eternal themes of humanity, nature, and time. In fact, the exhibition is also a sequel to his solo exhibition at the Royal Academy of Arts in London in 2019, and is an ongoing artistic exploration. The exhibition previously toured Shanghai and Shenyang, attracting more than 10,000 visitors and receiving rave reviews. This is the final stop of the tour in Hong Kong, where a series of works created specifically for local audiences will be added. Zhang Jianjun is the fourth artist-in-residence in the long-term residency program co-organized by K11 Art Foundation and the Royal Academy of Arts in London. During his residency, he used local materials in London and once again took "people" as the theme, turning the Smirke 2 Studio in the school into an "archaeological site" to create the mixed media installation work "Human Traces". Continuing and responding to his works at that time, Zhang Jianjun's return to the tour: "Human Traces" reflects Zhang Jianjun's unremitting exploration of humanity through art, and his deep interest in the existence of humans, nature and time as a whole. The exhibition consists of three closely connected parts: the interaction between humans, nature and time, which gradually unfolds along the timeline of the past, present and future. His works also integrate three core concepts in art history: (a) the interaction between nature and humans (scans of human figures from different eras, paintings and sculptures), (b) the flow of time and the traces it leaves behind, and (c) the relationship between contemporary people and tradition. My favorite is the last room which talks about the future. It asks you about your feelings about the world a hundred years from now, what do you regret most and what do you most want to tell people a hundred years from now? Everyone can write down their own answers and put them into the channel's collection box, and they will become part of the work in the future. There were soundtracks played at the event, and many of the answers from different people mentioned the current and future situation in Hong Kong, which was worth everyone's stopping and listening. The exhibition is therefore divided into three parts: The first part is a continuation of the 2019 London solo exhibition, adding more local citizens and traditional Chinese cultural images. Portraits of people of different ethnicities and identities, drawn in ink and charcoal, are contrasted with replicas of classical sculptures standing in the exhibition hall, linking the experiences of contemporary people with the relics of human civilization into a new story, inspiring the audience to think about the possibility of connecting with each other across cultural differences. The second part is a mirror gallery space. After experiencing the feeling of looking back into history as if visiting an archaeological site, in this space, the audience will slowly focus from the portrait to the eyes. The changes in light are dazzling and confusing, and everyone will be suddenly pulled back to the present as the space switches. When I followed closely and walked into it, I found that I was surrounded by layers of reflections of myself, and I could see myself reflected in the mirror everywhere. The immersive experience guides the audience to use the mirror as a mirror, focus on their own body, mind and spirit, examine themselves from different angles, and explore the multiple possibilities of themselves. The third part consists of a small interactive field. After some self-reflection, the audience will be faced with three heart-wrenching questions. Zhang Jianjun uses the method of asking questions to gather wisdom, guiding the audience to participate in artistic creation, leaving their unique answers and their own "traces" in the exhibition. The audience can also take a peek into the human stories of Shanghai and Shenyang at the same time. "Time" is a material used in Zhang Jianjun's works. In his view, "human traces" are traces of human evolution and development. As he said, "Tomorrow is more interesting with yesterday. I want to take the audience to observe things from a different perspective, but I will not give them answers, but provide them with a new way of thinking." Artists announced for next K11 Art Foundation x Royal Academy of Arts artist residency program K11 Art Foundation and the Royal Academy of Arts will continue to collaborate to promote cross-border art exchange, hoping to provide opportunities for artists through residency programs, attract more audiences and reach out to the international community. We are delighted to announce that Huen Sin-kan will be the next Hong Kong artist in residence, continuing his deep exploration and response to life and various human traces, bringing unique creations. 🎉 "Human Footprints" details Date September 30, 2021 to November 14, 2021 Opening hours: Monday to Friday; 12pm to 8pm Saturday to Sunday and public holidays: 11am to 7pm Location K11 HACC 2/F, K11 ATELIER King’s Road, 728 King’s Road, Quarry Bay Free admission ☺️Make your own emoticon K11 Art Foundation has specially designed a variety of special expression stickers to help viewers experience the portrait creation process of artist Zhang Jianjun, depicting everyone's "human traces" on an alternative canvas to create a unique work of art. Local Cultural Tour❤️《Searching for You, Me and Him in the Royal Capital》From Xuan Gong Cinema to Royal Capital to Tianlong Table Tennis, spanning 68 years of history, "Flying Arches" Royal Capital Cinema immersive historical experience activities🥳🥳🥳Lots of check-in spots I watched "My Fair Lady" at the Royal Capital Cinema in the 1970s, and in the 1980s, when I was in high school, I often went to "Wei Lun Records" at the Royal Capital Cinema in North Point to buy records (mostly foreign editions) with my good classmates. From 2005 to 2007, I lived in a subdivided flat in the Royal Capital Cinema Building... The memories also include the Royal Capital. I didn't expect that when I returned to the Royal Capital today, it has become a protected monument! After successfully acquiring the ownership of the 68-year-old King's Theatre Building at 279-291 King's Road last year, New World Development announced that it would do its best to restore the former theatre, a Grade I historic building, with completion expected in 2026. This will include the truss structure on the rooftop, commonly known as the "flying buttress", with the goal of creating a new landmark for arts and cultural performances. Before the restoration work started, Culture for Tomorrow, a non-profit organization under New World Development, held an immersive historical experience event called "Searching for You, Me and Him in the Imperial Capital". It was like being on the magnificent stage of the Imperial Theatre in the 1950s. Starting from receiving an old-fashioned theater ticket from the ticket office, you will embark on a first-person experience journey and witness the past and present of the Imperial Capital, from the Xuan Palace Theater built by Harry Oscar Odell MBE, "Little Shanghai" to the Imperial Theatre, bringing international performances to first-run Chinese and Western films, and experiencing one gripping historical scene after another. 🎉《Searching for You, Me and Him in the Royal City》Private Event Information Date: April 1 to April 30 Time: 10am to 8pm daily Location: Royal Theatre Arcade, 279-291 King's Road, North Point Participation Method: Culture for Tomorrow members have the opportunity to participate Online virtual tour: Starting in mid-April For all the above details, please pay attention to the Culture for Tomorrow website #Searching for You, Me and Him in the Royal City #Royal Theatre #Xuan Gong Theatre #Tianlong Billiard Room #68-year History #Flying Butts #Involvement #Historical Experience Activity #New World Group #culturefortomorrow #North Point #breathenewshk #frankkan #briefing
