In 1600, Kuroda Nagamasa, the first lord of the Fukuoka domain, entered the castle, but it was abandoned when Fukuoka Castle was built. In addition, Najima Shrine was originally located on the top of Jingu-ga-mine Mountain, but was moved to its current location when the castle was built. Until the Edo period, it was called Najima Benzaiten Shrine, but due to the Shinto-Buddhist separation order of the Meiji Restoration, it became the current Meijin Shrine.
