Japanese Soto sect surrounded by a majestic atmosphere

#aprilblooms The main mountain of the Japanese Soto sect. It was opened by Dogen Zen master as a dojo for zazen practice in 1244. On a vast site of about 330,000 m2, more than 70 large and small Hall of Fame pavilions centred on the Shichido Garan are lined up, and more than 100 monks are practising hard every day. It is possible to visit Joyo-den, the Goshin Mausoleum that enshrines Dogen Zen master, and the Buddha Hall, which enshrines the main Buddha Shakyamuni Buddha. Among them, the large hall "Kasa Shokaku", which is covered with 230 ceiling paintings called "E Ceiling Room", is a must-see.
