Checked into Shikotsuko Daiichi Hotel Suizan and honestly… the nature vibes hit me the second I arrived. Everything felt calm, earthy, and so beautifully Japanese in the softest way. The staff were the sweetest — not super fluent in English, but they tried SO hard to communicate, always smiling, always eager to help. They even walked me through the facilities, dining spots, and hotel details with so much enthusiasm. It felt genuinely warm. My room was Western-style but still carried that quiet Japanese soul. The bathroom? Spotless and surprisingly gorgeous. And the onsen… huge, peaceful, almost meditative. Plus, they have little ice pops waiting for you after the bath — cutest touch ever 🍦🫶🏻 Dinner was a full kaiseki experience — beautifully plated, delicious in every course, and the staff explained where every ingredient came from. The underground dining room had such a cozy, intimate atmosphere I didn’t want it to end. Morning came with a whole new mood: bright, fresh, with a Japanese breakfast set and a small buffet line for veggies and fruits. Perfect way to start the day.
