Visit Du Fu Thatched Cottage

Du Fu Thatched Cottage is the residence built by Du Fu when he lived by Huanhua Stream in Chengdu to escape the An Lushan Rebellion. Du Fu lived here for more than four years. Later, during the Five Dynasties period, the poet Wei Zhuang found the site of the cottage and rebuilt it, intending to "think of the person and build the place." Later, Du Fu Thatched Cottage was destroyed many times due to war and other reasons, and was rebuilt or repaired in the Song, Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties. In modern times, it has become a garden-style museum that combines the layout of a memorial temple and the appearance of the poet's former residence. The main attractions of Du Fu Thatched Cottage include the main gate plaque, thatched cottage, Poetry History Hall, Chaimen, Gongbu Temple, Shaoling Stele Pavilion, Wanfo Building, etc., interwoven with water features, bamboo forests, fragrant nanmu forests, plum gardens, etc., connecting historical time and space, and feeling the compassion of the poet saint "How can I get a million rooms, to shelter all the poor scholars in the world and make them all smile."
