Architectural poetry by the river: a summer ode to Budapest

From Liberty Bridge to the Chain Bridge, each step along the Danube was a tribute to European elegance. Baroque domes, Gothic arches, Ottoman echoes—all visible across the shimmering water. It felt like paging through a history book, only better. I ended my evening at Pontoon, Budapest’s laid-back gem with bean bags, craft drinks, and that unobstructed view of Buda’s skyline turning gold. With music softly echoing and the river glistening, it was hard not to fall a little in love with the city. Insider note: Come early to Pontoon for a good spot. Sunset begins around 8:30 p.m. in midsummer—perfect timing for golden-hour photos.
