📍Museum of Fine Arts The Museum of Fine Arts, one of Budapest's top museums, is the most iconic structure in Heroes' Square, facing the Palace of Art. It was built by the plans of Albert Schickedanz and Fülöp Herzog in an eclectic-neoclassical style, between 1900 and 1906. The Museum of Fine Arts, housed in a grand Renaissance-style building that reopened in late 2018 after three years of renovations, houses the city's most outstanding collection of foreign works of art, ranging from ancient Egyptian art to stellar collections of Spanish, Flemish, Italian, and German art. For the first time in four decades, it also contains Hungarian art. The collection's nucleus is Count Miklós Esterházy's private collection, which was purchased by the state in 1870.
