Worship the Buddha statue in the temple from the reign of King Rama III

🏘 Wat Buppharam Worawihan, a third-class royal temple, was originally built during the Ayutthaya period, though the name of its founder is unknown. Initially called Wat Dok Mai, it later became abandoned until the reign of King Rama III, when the principal wife of Somdet Chao Phraya Borom Maha Prayurawong (Dit Bunnag) restored the temple. 🏠 In 1848, Chao Muen Waiwaranat and Chao Muen Rachamatat constructed the ordination hall, temple, sermon hall, monk's quarters, and the temple walls. During the reign of King Rama IV, the king contributed to the restoration and renamed the temple Wat Buppharam. 🧱 During World War II, the temple was bombed and destroyed, leading to the reconstruction of the ordination hall, sermon hall, monk's quarters, and walls. Key attractions within the temple include: 🏠 The ordination hall, adorned with decorative elements such as chofahs, bai raka, and hang hong. The pediment features the Thai-style Maha Suriyamontra emblem, which includes a lion pulling a chariot, symbolizing Somdet Chao Phraya Borom Maha Suriyawong. It also depicts five Buddha images surrounded by colored glass. The door and window arches are designed in the Maha Phichai Mongkut style, symbolizing the reign of King Rama IV. Inside, the principal Buddha image is in the Mara Vichaya posture, lacquered and gilded. ⛺ The temple is the only remaining structure in the compound, showcasing a blend of Thai and Chinese architectural styles, which were favored during King Rama III's reign. The central door and window arches feature the Thai-style Maha Suriyamontra emblem (lion pulling a chariot) with gold-plated stucco and colored glass decorations in the shape of gardenias. The principal Buddha image is in the Mara Vichaya posture, modeled after Phra Buddha Chinnarat. 🏡 The sermon hall, rebuilt alongside the ordination hall, is designed in a traditional Thai style with chofahs, bai raka, and hang hong. The pediment features a Western-style Maha Suriyamontra emblem, depicting the sun with a human face in the center, painted gold on a white background.
