My first time in an Egyptian Desert

A Night in Bahariya Spending a night in Bahariya Oasis was an experience unlike any other—a journey into Egypt’s breathtaking Western Desert, where adventure meets tranquility under a sky filled with stars. The drive from Cairo took several hours, with the city’s chaos gradually fading into vast stretches of golden sand. Upon arriving, I was greeted by the lush greenery of the oasis, a stark contrast to the surrounding desert. After a short rest, the real adventure began. Exploring Bahariya’s Wonders Our first stop was the Black Desert, where volcanic hills and dark rock formations made the landscape look almost surreal. From there, we headed to Crystal Mountain, a shimmering ridge of natural quartz reflecting the afternoon sun, making the hills sparkle like something out of a dream. Then came the highlight—sandboarding on the towering dunes. Climbing up the soft sand was a challenge, but the thrill of sliding down with the wind rushing past made it all worth it. I laughed as I tumbled a few times, but the experience was pure fun and adrenaline. Barbecue and Stargazing in the White Desert As sunset approached, we reached the White Desert, one of Egypt’s most mesmerizing landscapes. The strange, wind-sculpted chalk formations stood like giant sculptures, glowing in the soft orange and pink hues of the setting sun. It felt like stepping onto another planet. We set up camp and prepared a traditional Bedouin barbecue. The smoky aroma of grilled meat and vegetables filled the air as we sat around the fire, sharing stories and sipping sweet Bedouin tea. The silence of the desert was calming, broken only by laughter and the occasional crackle of the fire. As night fell, the sky transformed into a breathtaking canvas of stars. With no city lights for miles, the Milky Way stretched clearly above us, and countless stars shimmered in the darkness. I lay back on the cool sand, mesmerized by the endless universe above. It was a humbling, peaceful moment—one that made me truly appreciate the beauty of the desert. The Next Morning Waking up in the desert was just as magical. After a simple breakfast, we visited the Valley of the Golden Mummies, where ancient tombs revealed glimpses of Egypt’s Greco-Roman past. The journey ended with a visit to one of Bahariya’s natural hot springs, where I dipped my feet, letting the warm water soothe away the last traces of the desert’s chill.
