The Fishbourne

We stayed for 3 nights and enjoyed every second from a friendly welcome when we arrived to a cheery goodbye when we left. After a short walk from the ferry, you arrive at The Fishbourne, greeted by genuinely friendly staff who are more than happy to show you to your room. Our room was huge, with an en-suite bathroom and toiletries. Shower was powerful and the water hot. Lovely. Bottled water, tea and coffee making facilities in the room, with a pack of 2 biscuits. A very nice touch. A large bed with plenty of sockets to charge our devices, but do remember to bring a suitable plug and cable. Lots of storage in the room and enough hangers for our clothes so we were quickly unpacked and feeling at home. Loved the view out of the window across the Solent, we even saw a couple of cruise ships after they had left Southampton. Breakfast was tasty, whether it was from the cold selection on offer or the freshly made cooked. Really tasty sausages. Homemade granola was especially good as were the pastries. Service was always quick and the cooked food served piping hot. We loved our stay and can’t wait to return. Getting around the island by bus was easy and cheap with a stop about a 10 minute walk. We even found a scenic woodland walk to visit Ryde. Definitely recommend.

Very welcoming, enjoyed our stay, great service and staff, loved the breakfast. Very accomdating with our dietary needs. Room was a decent size with a lovely comfortable large bed, the room had everything you needed to make your stay as pleasant and comfortable as possible. Felt very relax during my stay with sea views and a lovely decor pub below which servered great food.

The positive was the service received from Tracy who checked us in and was on breakfast service the following morning, she was fantastic. The room and bathroom were filthy, particularly the bathroom. The lack of cleanliness seemed to have been accumulating over time, not just on prior guests check out.

Had the fish and chips. Very disappointing as the fish was very small and the batter was pale and rock hard. Plenty of chips though. But i pay £16 to get a decent sized piece of fish. I won't be going back.

Truly friendly, helpful, informative staff. Leafy views, quite peaceful location considering it’s conveniently located a stone’s throw from the ferry.

Went for dinner with friends. did look a little dark from outside but inside was welcomed by lovely staff, nice decor. Its not the cheapest, but you pay for what you get. I had fish and triple cooked chips.. others had pizza staff very attentive.

We had lunch here recently and noticed that we had to put our car registration number into the machine in the pub, which we did. I have now received a parking fine of £100 saying I “failed to obtain a permit.” I can only assume that either the machine in the pub is not working or else this is another scurrilous parking company. It’s no good the pub saying its nothing to do with them as it’s their car park and they choose who to manage it. So…I suggest people avoid this place like the plague. Be warned that even if you do what the signs ask you may well end up with a fine.

Fantastic little find near the ferry terminal. Breakfast was amazing. Thank you so much for your frendly service. Will definitely be visiting again. One of the best breakfast I've had and a great start to our trip home.

We have visited this pub several times and never had a bad meal until now. I ordered the mature wookey hole cheese and chutney rarebit with fries. I didn't want fries so asked if I could have crisps instead and was told they had no crisps. I was served soggy bread with a revolting topping and there was no chutney. I couldn't eat it and sent it back. I was offered something else but declined and ordered peanuts instead. We were not charged for the rarebit or the peanuts. My husband had the mushroom and aubergine risotto which he enjoyed. There were clear signs about the parking so we should not incur any parking fines as we gave our vehicle registration. We last visited this pub in July 23. I had ribeye steak and my husband had sea bass, both of our meals were delicious. What a disappoin**ent my meal was today. We will not return.
