We were here for two nights. This is a Disney vacation timeshare property. It's right on the beach. Because of potential wind/wave issues, there is a hedgerow between the hotel and the beach, so you can't see the ocean from the first level. It should be noted that the beach was very badly eroded when were here, but was due to be replenished soon. We did have several issues here, and I'll cover them first. The hotel is actually NOT in Vero Beach, but in Wabasso Beach which is 10+ miles north. We drove directly to Vero Beach before realizing that we needed to be 10 miles north. Getting to Vero Beach from the hotel at certain times of the day can be a slow drive on crowded A1A. Probably not an issue for most people, but we were looking forward to trying some of the better restaurants in Vero Beach. For the first night we had to cancel a dinner reservation at a place in south Vero Beach---just too far away, and ended up eating at the hotel restaurant both nights. We reserved a two queen room, because kings were sold out. All of the oceanfront rooms were also sold out. So we assumed our room would have a garden view. Nope---it had a side view of a concrete roof and some construction, with a tight little balcony. This was perhaps the worst beach hotel view we've ever had. It turns out that the "two-queen" was actually one queen bed and a pull down sofa which converts to a queen murphy bed. The Disney reservation agent did not make me aware of what a "two queen" really was. So I complained to the hotel manager on duty about this, but she was not helpful at all, and actually put me on the defense. She could not get me another room, and would not give me a room discount. Other issues---although the room was fairly large, the bathroom had a small sink area. Also, there is no fitness room (but this is probably not unusual for such a family beach hotel). There were some positive parts of our stay, however. The hotel restaurant was surprisingly good compared to what you have at many beach hotels. At two breakfasts and two dinners, the menu was very creative, the food and cocktails good, and service fine. We specifically complimented the on-site head chef at dinner. Parking is free at an underground garageThe pool area is very large, and the pool very nice. It was supposed to be heated, but for some reason was not heated on the one day we swam---not a big issue. It's interesting that the lifeguards have to keep eyes on the pool at ALL times. I went up to ask one a question, and he would not respond to me, not even turn toward me. A bit weird, but I guess a good thing. Maybe they should put up a sign to tell guests not to talk to lifeguards. Well, I have over 400 Tripadvisor lodging reviews, and this is among the longest. Overall, this is probably a decent family beach hotel, but for us the number of negatives was surprisingly large for an upscale Disney resort.
