Arrived at 10.00pm. Night Porter on duty at reception for check-in and he was not properly trained to take Cash payments. Hotel only had a few guests, but we were allocated a room on 2nd floor and lift was not working. Plenty of rooms available on ground or first floors, so very unhappy at having to carry luggage up 3 flights of stairs. Bad nights sleep due to heavy rain on sky-light windows.
Fire alarm went of at 08.45, allegedly set by smoke in kitchens. Returned to room after breakfast and electrics did not work. Reported to reception, who sent an electrician, who was unable to resolve matter, so had to pack up cases with no light, room was very dark due to being in the attic. Complained at reception when checking out and receptionist was polite and helpful, but had to keep going and talking to manager in a back office, who NEVER came out to deal with the matter. She just sat in her office and negotiated compensation via Receptionist. Clearly manager is an IDLE person, who should not be paid for the job she IS'NT doing.
WE WILL NOT RETURN TO THIS HOTEL.
