Hotel Bintang 2 di Shangri-La

Overall room was basic. There was a restaurant in the hotel that offer hot meals. It was low reason, thus the hostel was quite empty during our stay. Or perhaps the location was so close to the bus station, most hikers will hop into bus and back to Lijiang or Shangri-La straight away. The hotel is located uphill. The only trouble we faced was our baggages was stored at the public storage room downhill, and we had to carried our own baggages walk about 200m uphill, and 3 storey staircase to our room.

This long standing guesthouse is a must stay in many ways if you are visiting Tiger Leaping Gorge - with outstanding views and definitely a perfect location for staying the second night if you are walking the gorge over 3 days. The bedrooms are large and clean and warm. The hotel staff are very helpful both in person and over WeChat - especially when you are doing the gorge walk and want some help with directions. There are great drinks in the bar including local craft beer. A few things that we would note though. Firstly given the price of the room, there absolutely should be real bath towels instead of very unsatisfactory disposable ones. Secondly I do not recommend booking the most expensive top floor rooms because the noise that comes through the roof from the upstairs area (bar/coffee shop/terrace) is very bad and constant (including waking us up in the morning). You would get just as good a view from the lower level rooms but without the terrible noise. Lastly it would be nice if the restaurant included a few western food options for lunch and dinner - the Chinese food we had was great but tired international tourists (and there are more and more of us!) often want comfort food after a long day’s hike.

Highly praised: 1. Full of ethnic characteristics, I like it very much 2. The room has very good lighting, and you can see the yard from the window 3. Shangri-La is very cold at night, and there are radiators and electric blankets in the room ready for sleeping, and quilts + blankets on the bed 4. The towels are disposable, and people with mysophobia can use them with confidence. There are disposable slippers and plastic slippers, and they are fully equipped 5. The store owner has a very good service attitude. The toilet light broke halfway, and he took the initiative to help me change rooms 6. The location is good, a few dozen meters away from the main road, convenient for taxis, and there are many food and drinks around, and you can also eat in the store There is room for improvement: 1. It is very shaking when going up and down the stairs, which is not friendly to friends with heavy luggage 2. Later, the hot water on the fourth floor was not warm enough, but I was in a hurry to check out, so I didn't give any feedback 3. The log house has no sound insulation, but the overall environment is quiet In summary, it is highly recommended and will be considered if I come again next time

We were given the topmost corner room with a terrace which provides an unblocked view of the mountains with exceptionally fresh air. The room isn't huge and devoid of any noteworthy decorations, it's just a basic room. There are plenty of graffiti on the walls of the premise and while they do give character to the hotel, yet, some look a little unsightly, especially the carelessly scribbled ones.

Very good experience! The rooms are very clean, so are the bathrooms and showers. You can wash your clothes for 8 yuan. The location is good, very near the main entrance of the ancient town. I would definitely come back!

Well located on the main road, 5 min walk to the north gate of Ancient Town. No air Cond, but weather was cold even in late June. Old building but room quite clean. Water replenished daily, towels thick and clean. Toiletries replenished daily if required. Front office staff young and helpful. Ample food choices nearby and inside old town. We took Bus No 3 to and fro Songzanlin Lamasery. Cost 2 yuan. Bus stops on road perpendicular to Old Town north gate.

It was perfect for my needs. Great value. It was neat and clean, with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Excellent location in the heart of the old Town.

We stayed here as our mid-point stop while hiking the Tiger Leaping Gorge. The location was easy to find, just about a minute further from the Tea Horse Guesthouse. The hotel is undergoing some renovation so it was a bit tricky for us to find the check-in. We think we accidentally went through the back entrance. Once we managed to check in, the host took us to our room right away. The room was simple but clean and comfortable. The hot water worked reliably but note that the bathroom has a wet toilet. The view of the Yulong Mountain from the room is spectacular. There is a restaurant at the hotel but we did not get a chance to try it. Due to the renovations, the rooftop space mentioned in other reviews is also not accessible. We did have tea (free) and coffee (paid) there the next morning before setting out to continue our hike. Overall, the hostess was very sweet and we would recommend staying here! Note: If you speak English, note that the signs are a bit confusing as it is sometimes referred to as Summit Inn but sometimes they use the direct translation from Chinese of Mountain Beauty Inn.

The hotel has good front desk service, good hygiene, and is very close to the ancient city. It is a very cost-effective hotel and is worth recommending; the breakfast is delicious! Hygiene: very clean, no odor Environment: Floor heating is provided, very warm, and a humidifier is also provided, which feels less dry. Service: The front desk lady is very enthusiastic.
