We stayed in the Smart Room and loved our stay at this hotel. I would like to warn any other travelers, however, that the hotel name on maps is Weiting hotel - with an E - not Waiting hotel. If you take a taxi to Waiting hotel you will arrive at a different location. Better yet just use the address instead of the name 😀 As a suggestion to the hotel, a European variety of foods during breakfast would be really nice, couldn’t eat much of the Chinese food breakfast options.

Awesome hotel, the kind that uses just some floors of the building, but still very good, clean, with great service and awesome location, with a shopping mall just on the opposite side

This is an honest and sincere review. Our one-month stay in China across 9 cities was marred by the WORST experience at The Waiting Hotel. The hotel staff preferred local Chinese customers who will likely be returning customers, leaving foreign visitors (who will likely stay there once) feeling unwelcome. On my second night, I was aggressively confronted by a local guest in the laundry room, and the hotel staff failed to handle the situation competently, escalating it and leaving me traumatised. I tried to send a formal complaint letter after checking out, but I was unable to reach the hotel. The hotel's location is inconvenient - minimum 10-mins walk to the nearest subway station. Calling for a Didi is also inconvenient due to the hotel's location on a main street, where cars cannot stop easily. Be prepared that local Didi drivers will shout at you for this reason. Additionally, the hotel facilities are dated and damaged, with damp towels, damaged door handles, and a malfunctioning AI system controlling the lights and curtains in the room. With only THREE washing machines and dryers for this crowded hotel, and an outdated dryer that takes about 2.5 hours to dry a full load, the hotel's amenities are insufficient. Breakfast options and seating are limited, and the corridors are cluttered with cleaners' trays and trolleys day and night. Avoid The Waiting Hotel. Stay elsewhere to avoid a similar experience to mine. My wife and I stayed in Shanghai for two nights before going to Hangzhou. The location of Waiting Hotel (XJH main branch) is great, it is within walking distance to Shanghai Indoor Stadium metro station (around 300m), and it is only around 1.4km from Xujiahui shopping area. The hotel room size is quite small, and it only has a cute little window open to an inside courtyard. There is a laundry room, a small gym and a small canteen on the sixth floor. Suggest to stay at least 3 rooms away from the laundry room to avoid the noise. There is no much variety of the breakfast menu, mainly veggie dishes and porridge.

Location is very good, 2 km approx to Shanghai ever right convention center, many coffee shops and western and indian food choices , super market is across the road in 1921 nanyang square, just that the heaing temperature t is too much in room so had to ask for a fan to cool down

A very nice hotel. The location was a bit far from attractions, but the staff and everything very nice.

This was a clean and modern hotel. Loved the area and shopping centers around it . We had a better experience here than staying near the Bund area . The rooms were big . Good view + gym and laundry . The breakfast wasn't impressive but good enough. I might stay here again next time in Shanghai. The only negative thing was that staff couldn't speak english and we had to use google translator all the time. We managed to get some discounts for staying longer in this hotel.
