The Olde Ship Inn

We stopped for one night . The room was small but suited us .Enough wardrobe space for us . Shower was good . A good selection of coffee and tea in the room . The breakfast menu was very good and plenty of cereals and juices. All staff were friendly and helpful. Good place to stay and ideally situated.

First the positives. We had a good dinner and breakfast, there was nice beer on tap and the self-conscious quirkiness added to the a**osphere. We were particularly pleased to be offered local kippers. And service was friendly and efficient. BUT there's no parking unless you have a blue badge and have enough skill to squeeze into the service yard where limited space is shared with the staff. Otherwise there is a public carpark a couple of hundred yards away which is not ideal for elderly people with luggage. At 6pm we got the only space available there. ALSO our room (4) was pokey and uncomfortably warm from some unseen heat source. The window was over the service yard so if open it let in the noise. The over-bath shower was difficult to access because the space was so cramped and no non-slip mat was provided. The rate for this accommodation was over twice what we'd paid at charming country inns on the previous two nights and only half as comfortable. It wasn't worth the 4* rating and we won't be returning - not even for the kippers.

Stayed for three nights last week which was excellent.breakfasts great and had one meal in restaurant which was also excellent.room was fine with all facilities.also loved the bar very quaint with all the shipping memorabilia.definately be back

Wonderful staff & service from reception to bar to evening meal in restaurant ( which deserves a special mention). Pub is full of character & king four poster room (very comfortable bed) was warm and clean with good views of harbour. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

We have just returned home from a two night stay at The Olde Ship. Everything was ship shape. Very clean and comfortable and it oozed a**osphere. The staff were friendly and helpful, particularly at breakfast and in the restaurant. Food was delicious and there was a good choice for breakfast (can recommend the kippers) and evening meal catered for those wanting smaller plates. All good 👍 and thank you for an enjoyable stay and thank you for keeping the old traditions of tge pub alive

The ******* review I gave was incorrect. The staff were lovely, friendly and very busy. The room was spotless and the bathroom was too and had the fluffiest white towels. Tea and coffee excellent brands. The whole place was such a lovely experience. The only downfall was the car park prices were confusing and not suitable for a couple of hours stay.

Positives. The beds comfortable. The shower works. The room we had was noisy, draughty, no views and oppressive. We are OAP’ s with mobility problems . We discussed our problems with management but they made no effort to talk to us after this initial contact. The whole stay was disappointing and we left a day early.

We had booked for sunday lunch but trying to get served at the bar was a bit of a chore as we were early for our table,we were told to wait at the bottom of the staircase and we would be taken to our table,15 minutes had passed but we were still waiting,we then found out we were at the wrong stairs as it was not explained correctly.We got to our table and i must say the service and food was really nice and reasonably priced,maybe they were short staffed this day,would i go back ? Probably as the food was really good

Very friendly staff. Excellent breakfast choices, wonderful evening menu, both of which are highly recommend. Comfortable room. Great location to visit the North East coastline. And the pub has a lovely a**osphere with a good range of beers and wines.
