Oceanis Beach Hotel

I always say you can tell the difference between a 4 star hotel which is happy being a 4 star and a 4 star who are aiming to be a 5 star. Unfortunately this hotel was definitely happy with their criteria. The hotel itself was lovely and clean, plenty of sunbeds and private ones on the beach. They provide a shuttle service to the old town for €8 per day which was definitely worth it. The rooms were lovely and clean, however, upon arrival we were given a downgraded room on the 1st floor which was a standard family room instead of the deluxe double we had booked, this was quickly rectified by the manageress. The lifts in the hotel itself were extremely unreliable and were constantly stuck on floors. They also did not appear to have working sensors as would close on those attempting to enter the lift itself. The drinks were okay, however, not a lot of option. The food was mediocre at best, I understand that as an all inclusive and having worked in the hotel industry for many years food is normally mass produced, however, we found that the majority of the time the food was not hot and there was not a lot of options to chose from. The dining room itself was set out extremely odd, it was not wide enough for people to pass and was not good for those who had any form of mobility issues due to the steps. We noticed there were a lot of guests who were rude and didn’t understand how to queue, the majority of breakfast, lunch and dinner was spent telling people there was a queue and to get in it as so many guests loved to line cut. Wide range of guests such as Germans, French, Dutch, Swedish and British. The rooms themselves were clean, but very loud, you could hear doors shutting and people moving around everywhere. Great Hotel and service. Nice and clean room with a great sea view and terrace. The restaurant employees are very helpful and friendly. Good food. And the hotel has its own free beach. Nice atmosphere in the evenings with good entertainment.

Reading previous reviews we had so many high expectations for this hotel but these unfortunately fell short for ourselves. Maybe we had just set them too high. We had a two weeks here. Arrival - we arrived around 1am and check in was quite quick. We paid €93 tourist tax for our two week stay. If you are arriving late I would advised to grab a sandwhich from the airport. There was items left in the fridge in the room pastries and a banana and a made sandwich but this all seemed a little stale. But at least something was put out for us. Food - food was ok, most of it was warm, and there were many repetitive dishes. My favourite night was the Mexican, however we did find ourselves eating the same things most days. Location - location into Rhodes was good, taxi was €10 each way or the hotel put a shuttle service on for €8 return which was good. This hotel is based on a main road. We found crossing the road to the beach to be very temperamental as traffic doesn’t seem to stop at the zebra crossing unless you physically start to walk out. We found it a night there was a lot of noise drivers would sound there horns right the way down the strips motorbikes revving their engines ect. But I understand this is a main road. There are some lovely restaurants a short walk to the left of leaving the hotel, we tried da romeos and glory days FBI which was a really nice sports bar. Facilities - Cleaners were really polite and nice. Pools were large and didn’t seem overly busy for our first week, sun beds we were told no reserving with towels and were asked fill to move our towels while we got breakfast. However there were beds that had been allowed to be reserved around us. Pool towels are available for a €10 each deposit which you receive back when you give your pool card back. Rooms - rooms were clean linen and towels changed daily. Our air con seemed to leak ( most likely ice build up). Rooms were very spacious, i did absolutely love the shower. Beds were ok but we found them to become uncomfortable after a long period of time. Had to request a thicker blanket as originally was just a sheet and one pillow Entertainment - there are activities during the day, aqua arobics (this seemed good however it was the same routine daily with the same music) darts and other activities going on during the day. The night time entertainment was slightly lacking in my opinions but I have mainly been to tui blue hotels where the shows are on for a few hours or a night and really interactive with guests. We could see the stage from our balcony so spent most nights in our room. Drinks - I can’t comment on alcohol ect as I can’t drink, soft drinks were self serve. Departure - Check out is 11am, for €40 you can extend your room til 6pm which we did as we weren’t being picked up til 9pm. I put an occasion down as we were celebrating our joint 30th and there was. A bottle of house wine in the room when we arrived. Would we return? Probably not. Unfortun

Just some tips Take your own tissues, shampoo and conditioner unless you like premier inn type dispenser, get used to having no waiters anywhere,get used to queuing for your drinks in the main bar, find a pillow for the really uncomfortable seats for the evenings and learn the rule for leaving a towel on your sun bed before 9 am as nobody tells you. Take a pillow from your room as the sun beds are the most uncomfortable I have ever tried to use and the sun beds on the pebble beach are even worse.The good bits are the rooms, the pool and the restaurant personnel 4 star ????

Stayed here for 4 nights for a friend. The location is great, just a short taxi ride from the airport. We were greeted with a warm welcome at reception, and our bags were taken to our room. Rooms: The rooms are beautifully decorated, modern, and extremely tidy. The free-to-use safe and fridge were ideal. The reusable water bottle was a nice touch. Our room was cleaned every day. Pools: The pools are fantastic, with plenty of space and sunbeds. I appreciated the rule that sunbeds cannot be reserved before 9 am, which prevents the early morning towel rush. The pool area is kept very tidy, with towels available for hire (refundable deposit) and plenty of bins to maintain cleanliness. Bars: The pool bar offers a wide variety of drinks, including beer on tap, fizzy drinks, and snacks. The food bar also offers great selections. The evening bar is very efficient, with friendly staff. Restaurant: There are so many food choices, all of high quality and served hot. We enjoyed breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day. The staff is very attentive, and there are plenty of tables to choose from. Entertainment: There are fun activities during the day like darts, water polo, aerobics, and table tennis. The evening entertainment is excellent, with opera singers being the highlight and the best I've seen at a hotel. Location: The hotel is conveniently close to the airport. There are plenty of bars and restaurants in either direction when you leave the hotel. Rhodes town is only an hour's walk away, which we did there and back. There is also a bus from the hotel or a taxi option, about 15 minutes away. Negative: The only downside is the small lifts (max 3 people), which can lead to long waits. Overall, it's a great hotel, and we'd definitely book again

A hotel with heart, lovely staff in every department made sure we had a wonderful holiday from beginning to end. The pools are beautiful, the rooms comfortable, and the views of the Aegean and across to Turkey are amazing. The food was excellent and the service was first class, I would like to say a particular thank you to Spyros - he is the most fantastic and accommodating host. (Dimitri, Georgina, Anna and Andreas were also brilliant!) The warmth and kindness of the people who work here really make this a special place and we would recommend it to anyone looking to spend some time in Rhodes (it’s also fabulously located only 10 minute taxi ride to old town).

Firstly, I'd like to point out that the review previous to this one does not relate to The Oceanis! This was our third visit to The Oceanis and we were not disappointed. It's a great hotel in a good location near to local bars, shops etc with access to a private area of the beach and is a short drive to Rhodes Town. The hotel itself is very clean, serves a variety of lovely food and drinks and the staff are friendly and hardworking. Nothing is too much trouble from the Reception team, housekeeping, Spyros & the restaurant team and Dimitri and the bar staff. There are plenty of loungers available both at the hotel and at the beach and it would be nice if they were all had cushions. We hired a car for the first time through the hotel and June was very pleasant and helpful, suggesting places to visit. We celebrated a birthday whilst on holiday and were spoilt with champagne, wine and cake. We had another brilliant holiday and are already planning a return visit later in the year.

There's absolutely nothing I would change about this hotel at all. Was situated maybe 15 mins from the airport which is very handy for transfers. We hired a car from the airport and always managed to get parking at the hotel after days out Check in was quick and efficient. We didn't use reception really during our stay so can't comment much else on that There is a bar just off the reception area that is open when the pool bar is shut, staff here lovely There are 2 pools. The garden one was one for the sun worshippers as not much shade. Having kids who wanted to be in the pool constantly we tended to use the main one where the drinks and pool snack area is (the food was lovely there, fresh pizzas constantly being put out, salad, chips, gyros really gorgeous dips etc). There were 2 entertainment people who organised darts etc and these always made an effort with my son which was lovely. They worked very hard long hours There was a different entertainment event on each night and they were all very good although I think they started at 9.30 which I think was a tad late to kick things off, especially with kids Kids could help themselves to snacks drinks and ice creams We had 2 twin rooms on the top floor on the very end and these had unrivaled views of the ocean. Cleaners were always around and we would say we were fine if didn't require cleaning on a particular day Bathrooms were beautiful (wish I had the same at home!) beds comfy too The restaurant was a highlight of mine I am picky and don't like fish at but there was always lots of choice and it was simply beautiful. There were themes each night there too. The staff was amazing, constantly clearing up after you and checking you're OK. I honestly wish I could live there I just loved it so much. We never tend to return to the same places as like new things but I can't say I won't be tempted back, even if it was just to get my tzatziki and tomato fix Thankyou for an unforgettable holiday Oceanis
