Shri Jangamwadi Math Yatri Nivas

The holy place Rameswaram is one of the twelve Jyothirlingas of India. Out of all the twelve Jyothirlingas Rameswaram temple is biggest. In Hindu mythology, it is compulsory for every Hindu to take a pilgrimage to Kashi and Rameswaram. The Chardham Yatra of India spread in four directions like Badrinath, Dwaraka, Puri-Jaganath and Rameswaram. Rameswaram is at the southern part of India. When Lord SriRam killed Ravana, he attained the sin of Brahma Hatya Dosham. As advised by Sage Augustya Maharishi, Lord SriRam decided to offer a Pooja to Lord Shiva at Rameswaram. Lord SriRam has to offer Pooja to Lord Shiva because Ravana was ardent follower of Lord Shiva. To get rid of he Brahma Hatya Dosham it is mandatory to worship the Shiva. Mata Sita, Lord Srirams wife surmounted a shivalingam made out of sand on the land and offered pooja to the lingam. By this lord Sriram got rid of the sin of Brahma hatya. The culture here is that the pilgrims must first have bath in Agni theertham sea(Bay of Bengal) and then have a bath at the 22 wells located in the temple premises. The pilgrims who bring the holy Ganga water from Kashi will be doing a abishekam to the Rameswaram lingam. Sri Gurusidhaswamy from Karnataka has established a math in this holy place to serve Veerashaiva Lingayat devotes from all over India.
