What a lovely break! We were welcomed warmly by Mark who was most friendly and helpful all weekend. We walked Snowdon and visited Portmeirion whilst there - both easily reached from the house. It’s a beautiful house, the room was large, well equipped and comfortable - with chairs to sit and enjoy the view as well as a super comfy bed. We stayed in Moss Hilda’s room - the view was to die for ( from both the bedroom and lovely bathroom ). Lovely touches to the room - coffee machine, wine glasses, history of the house to name a few. Breakfast was preordered on a tablet in the bedroom and was plentiful and cooked fresh. Plenty of options to choose from. Thank you for a wonderful stay, we will definitely come back.

Wow, wow, wow. After months of hospital appointments, procedures and major surgery we felt we needed a couple of days away before my chemotherapy started the week before Christmas. We were welcomed so warmly into this amazing house that has been so tastefully restored incorporating the fascinating history of the house and its former owners. The four poster bed was beyond comfortable and everything in the room oozed luxury. It really was the tonic we needed. The breakfast choices were perfect and adjusted for personal choice. I cannot recommend this property enough and we are looking at dates when we can return in the near future. Without sounding like a cliche, we arrived as strangers but left as friends.

The owners Mark & Howard were most inviting, the historic country house and gardens are beautiful. The attention to detail was amazing, food fabulous & tasty. We stayed in the Madocks room with a four poster bed. The bedding and pillows were amazing clean & comfy. We would definitely recommend this place and we will definitely return.

Just returned from a two night stay at this charming country house. We received the warmest of welcomes from Mark - a perfect host who could not do enough for you. Our room was spacious and very clean, attention to detail was second to none, very comfortable and with a view to die for. Breakfast was excellent with a good choice and served in a lovely breakfast room again taking advantage of the view. The house is set in beautiful gardens and has a beautiful veranda. Perfect location to use as a base to visit the local sites including Port Meirion. Many thanks for your hospitality and sharing your stunning home with us.

Such a charming, beautiful place full of character. The hotel is set off the beaten track in a perfect location to nearby villages. The rooms are spacious with stunning views. Breakfast each morning served by Mark was perfect, Eggs Royale and the full English were the tastiest breakfast. Also cater for vegans too. Hosts are beyond helpful and very warm. Will definitely be returning.

Five star service from Mark and Howard after our stay this weekend at Plas Tan-Yr-Alt. When we departed on Sunday morning I left an IPad in our room - (Madocks, excellent with wonderful views and supremely comfy four poster) and despite our hosts’ timely efforts to notify us it was too late for us to return to collect it. Howard very kindly packaged it up for the courier and I received it 48 hours after we left. Mark and Howard, thank you again. We really enjoyed our visit.

We wanted a few nights away to explore Snowdonia and the Llyn Peninsula and a web search led us to Plan Tan Yr Allt, we were not disappointed. Location is perfect for exploring North Wales. The house has been beautifully updated and the rooms are well equipped and very comfortable while being respectful to the history of the property. Breakfast was delicious. Mark and Howard are excellent hosts.

The most delightful place to stay. We had a fabulous few days at this beautiful house. Mark was a most welcoming host. Our room was very comfortable. The view was superb. Breakfast could not be faulted. It was within easy reach of the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways which should not be missed. But most of all, Mark and Howard’s attention to detail made everything extra special.
