Rossio Hotel

Be careful when booking because you might not even get a room in the actual hotel! I booked this stay on-line at the last minute and the hotel does not have it's own booking app, the reservation is done through a booking UI. The only room available was an "economy family room" which I didn't realize wasn't even listed on the hotel website as a room and there are no pictures of that type of room. When we got there we discovered that we weren't even booked into the Rossio hotel but instead in some little building a block up the road and up a set of stairs! There was no elevator and there was nothing in our booking that informed us of this. If we had been handicapped I don't know what we would have done. The room was very basic, and had no amenities, no kettle even. There was an espresso machine in the hall that cost about a euro per coffee but all I could get out of it was coffees with sugar, whether an espresso or a latte. We did manage to get them to move us after the first night into the Rossio hotel itself. There was no kettle in that room either but breakfast was included. It is the same breakfast every day: plates already set out on the table with cheese, meat, unripe fruit, bread, butter and jams. The server asked us if we wanted eggs and bacon so we did have that. After the third day I asked if I could get yogurt and cereal and that was provided. They probably had other items but since there wasn't a menu set out we didn't know. They have some strange policies there, our daughter, who was staying in a different hotel, came to visit us and see our room. She had to wait while the woman at the front desk went to ask the manager if that was okay. The woman never came back so our daughter came up to our room anyway. Then the woman from the front desk knocked on our door and awkwardly explained that "strangers" aren't allowed in the rooms! The location is good for walking and exploring the town but the parking can be bad. We paid an extra $7 per day to park in their garage but that was not super great, the spots were very narrow and it was hard to get out of the car once we parked. To get out of the garage you had to tell someone at the front desk and they would open the door for you. To get back in you had to pull up to the garage door and ring a bell and they would come let you in. In the meantime you were half blocking a very narrow road. I would only recommend this place if you could be sure that you are getting a room in the actual hotel. Don't expect to make in-room coffee or tea either, they don't provide kettles.

Unbelievably bad. Everything was broken. The water was tepid and when I tried to complain the manger just told me it was hot. It wasn’t. He was exceptionally rude. Would not recommend on any level. By far the worst hotel I have stayed in in Portugal

Gostei, recomendo e voltarei numa outra oportunidade. O proprietário do Hotel e seu funcionários são de uma simpatia extrema Numa escala de 1 a 10 eu vou dar 10. O proprietário é uma pessoa muito sociável conversadora, com um diálogo simples que toda a gente percebe. Quartos muito limpos, W.C. com tudo que é necessário e pequeno almoço muito generoso, não foi preciso mais do que o foi apresentado. Hotel não luxuoso mas soberbo

Péssima!! Horrível!! Lamentável o que nos aconteceu. Só pelo facto de sermos donos de um cão que não se fez acompanhar por nós e porque estava no carro e senhor da receção o viu, disse que “não alugamos o quarto por serem proprietários de um cão”. Mais uma vez, lamentável. Ainda vivemos num país em que se avaliam as pessoas e famílias pelo o que possuem.

Quarto espaçoso , confortável e muito limpo . Poucos produtos de higiene , só havia 1 gel de duche que servia para o corpo e para o cabelo. Não havia nem água de boas vindas. Funcionários muito simpáticos mas visivelmente multifunções. Pequeno almoço servido na mesa , mas em quantidade e estão sempre a oferecer mais pão , café etc.. O Hotel é moderno.

Estancia de Semana Santa de 2023. Ubicación magnífica, estupendas instalaciones con cuidado por el detalle y un trato magnífico por todo su personal. Desconozco quién ha realizado críticas negativas pero me cuesta imaginar cualquier cosa criticable. A mencionar que el desayuno era asistido en lugar de tipo buffet pero muy rico y con calidad. En suma, un hotel estupendo para ubicarse en el bonito Portalegre y conocer el alto Alentejo.
