Hilias Retreat

Perfect location and very clean nice bathroom small but spotlessly clean comfy bed fridge full of bottled water mr & mrs Hilias incredibly friendly and made us feel very welcome hired a scooter from them 500 a day good value I think Coco Cabana directly in front of home so perfect for breakfast.We had booked 5 nights but stayed 7 in the end.

We stayed here for 6 nights over the New Year. We paid a bit more than we would have liked but it was over the holidays. The room was clean and had a balcony and a fridge. The owners were lovely and helped us with any questions we had. No food on site but it didn’t matter as everything was within walking distance. Beach was 100 meters away. Would recommend.

The most familiar place to stay in whole Palolem. I am amazed about the hospitality the owners give to the guests. Me and my GF has travelled a lot in the years, and im also travelling a lot at work. So by that, im saying that i have my demands at a hotel. And Hilias Retreat has it all! Nice rooms. Excellence cleaning. Big refridgerator with water filled up every day of cleaning. Adorable owners by Mr. Hilias and his wife. Nothing is a problem, they will do anything to make you feel good at your stay. 1,5 min to the beach. Silent at night. And the two wonderful pugs, Macho and Puglin that also will give you a warm welcome! We have already made a reservation for 4 weeks in february 2025, cant find a better place to stay! Top on my list for why to stay at Hilias Retreat is Hilias who owns this gem of a hotel only about 2-3 minutes walk to the beach where you will find many restaurants with a view. Hilias has had a very interesting life and you will enjoy talking with him. Also, he will be certain that everything will go smoothly during your stay. I stayed here for five problem-free nights. The wifi was reliable and strong and the very clean room is comfortable with everything that you may need available including a cold well stocked refrigerator. In particular, it was nice to have a balcony to not only sit on but also to dry clothes. The hotel is secure and there is always someone in the reception area. He will also arrange a ride to your next location at a reasonable price. Very highly recommended and I look forward to returning soon.

During our 15-night stay at Hilias Retreat, we enjoyed its convenient location, situated amidst the action and just a short stroll from the beach. The accommodation was clean and comfortable, with regular cleaning by the attentive staff. Parking space is available for those with a car or scooter. It's worth noting that our unit, located next to the reception, experienced occasional noise from guests checking in and engaging in lively conversations with the welcoming hosts. Also, they only take cash on arrival, no card fascilities. And there is no self catering fascilities.

Such a gem, a lovely little find, the owners are soooooo accommodating and friendly. The room was equipped with a fridge which was a bonus, they fill it with bottles of water and charge the regular rate of R20 a bottle if you use it. Saves you lugging water back from the shops which is the same price anyway. The owner even lent me a hairdryer and kettle for the 6 days which was so appreciated, as it’s not always common practice to have them in the rooms, unless you’re in the higher class hotels. The room was spotlessly clean and they clean it every few days and change the bedding too. The beach is about 50-100 yards directly across from the rooms, the room has a balcony overlooking the garden, which was perfect for me as a backpacker to do a little washing, it was dry within a few hours hung over the wall. Bed was a little on the hard side but was fine, there were plenty of sockets, plus air con and a ceiling fan. Although the weather was very hot, I never used the aircon, I found the fan was sufficient for me. On the odd occasion the electricity does go off but not for long. There’s also free WiFi and walking distance to all the shops and restaurants. Would definitely stay there again, perfect spot.
