Conte Marino Villas

We stayed 1 week with a family of 6 people from Saguenay, Quebec, Canada at the villa Orangia. It was a wonderful week. Superb reception from Despina on our arrival in the evening and she is very caring and available at all times. Villa with tasteful architecture, high ceiling, tastefully decorated rooms. Outside garden with beautiful orange and olive trees , swimming pool, plenty of space to breathe and relax. Excellent breakfast; freshly squeezed orange juice, lots of choice and varied every day. We highly recommend.

Conte Marino Villas offer an amazing luxury experience. The villa we stayed in was beautifully designed for year-round comfort, with a spacious living area, private pool, fully equipped kitchen, and stunning gardens. Located in the gorgeous village of Kontomari, it’s an ideal spot if you want to have a proper Greek holiday. Beautiful beaches, the city of Chania and numerous restaurants and tavernas are only a few minutes away. Our host, Despina, was incredibly helpful, ensuring a smooth stay and offering great local recommendations. Her warm hospitality made us feel truly welcome. We can’t recommend Conte Marino Villas highly enough!

Overall, we had a wonderful stay in a stunning house with impressive architecture and beautiful outdoor spaces. The swimming pool was a lovely bonus, perfect for relaxing. Despina, the host, was very responsive and provided excellent local recommendations.

Despina has created a place that is really unique, furnished with curated items and original artwork. The attention to detail is very obvious. All the needs are taken care of; providing some coffee capsules, beach towels, Starlink satellite Internet, huge TV, electrically retracting sunshade. Her hospitality was excellent with recommendations for places we would not have discovered. One of the best villas we have ever stayed at.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Conte Marino Villa. The setup is luxurious, and the owner is incredibly responsive. The fragrant scent of oranges adds to the relaxation by the pool. The chef-prepared breakfast was a daily highlight, and the villa offers everything a traveler could want.

We’ve just completed our 4th year in a row at Conte Marino and, suffice to say, we love it! We are a family of 5, with three kids under the age of 8. We keep coming back for many reasons, but the primary ones are: the Villas are all amazing (we personally stay in Alivia), the team of Chefs and Maids are brilliant, and Despina (owner) is an incredible host! The ability to have a lovely cooked breakfast every morning (bar Sundays) is also a huge plus for us, and is not something you’d get at your average Villa. Location-wise, Kondamari is a small village just up from the sea. It’s super close to Kolymvari, Platanias and Agia Marina, all of which have great restaurants and beaches to explore. Chania is a 30 minute drive, which is straight down the highway and so very easy to get to, albeit parking is challenging. All-in-all, if you’re looking for a modern, spacious, private Villa, with great staff and amenities, and great optional extras like breakfast and private dinners, look no further than Conte Marino Villas ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I rarely write reviews and I even more rarely rate something as "excellent" because I often have too high expectations and I almost always get disappointed. But about Conte Marino Villas I am happy to say that all my expectations were perfectly met. I stayed 2.5 weeks with my husband, 2 daughters (5 and 9 years old) and my parents-in-law (both 80 years old). The house offered the perfect space for everyone. There was privacy for the adults and lots of space for our daughters to run around. I liked basically everything in the design and functionality of the house, especially how the long corridor with both sides of glass looking onto the garden provided a perfect separation between living area and bedrooms. In fact we left thinking that if we ever build a house for ourselves we would like to have it like this. Breakfast was prepared for us in the adjacent garden and included every day something typical from Crete. Despina was super kind and provided suggestions and support during our entire stay. She was also incredibly supportive after our departure, when we realized only back home that we had left something in the car rental. She got directly in contact with the car rental company to help, realizing that for us was complicated to do it from back home given our hectic work schedule. We had chosen to come to Crete to enjoy the sea and also to visit some of my husband's family who lives in a village nearby. Conte Marino Villas provided the perfect location to visit family and at the same time visit the best beaches in western Crete. Every day we visited a different beach, and then came back to this dream house to relax. I would love to come back, maybe in October or in April to visit Crete off season. Now we know a home back from home.

We rented Villa Mandarina. The owners, Despina and her husband, were very hospitable and service-minded. That started from the moment we booked (January 2024) and even after we left (we forget to take a pair of shoes at check-out, and she was so kind to send these to the other side of the island where we spent the next week)! She also provided us with tips for restaurants, trips and contact details for a taxi. If you plan to visit Gramvoussa Island and the Balos lagoon, do this as early as possible, to avoid the crowds. Private cruise is recommended (contact provided by the owner). The quality of the villa and it's interior is very high. There is nothing to be missed. We picked every day oranges from the garden to prepare fresh orange juice for breakfast. You defintely need a car (or other transport), since it is located some km's from the coast and Platanias. Chania is nice to visit, but very crowded. Try to book a table on the rooftop of the Pallas restaurant (early reservation needed).

We stayed in Villa Oragio, one of three exceptionally high standard, quality, stylish but welcoming villas within the intimate Conte Marino complex. It was simply superb. The villa itself has everything you need and more. The outside space is equally impressive, lovely seating area, great pool all set in a landscaped garden filled with orange and lemon trees. Despina who owns the complex with her husband, also manages the complex and hospitality, supported by an on site team where nothing is too much trouble so that guests have a fantastic experience and stay. My children and I arranged to have breakfast each morning in the communal breakfast area, and again the quality and effort that was made was exceptional. Despina was always contactable to offer guidance and support when needed. She is also a caring and lovely person. She signposted us to local taxis, personal trainers and good places to eat. The villas are less than a 10 minute walk to the nearest supermarket, beach front and afew places to eat. If you walk for 10 minutes more there are more tavernas and supermarkets. Platanias, the nearest town is a 1 hr steady walk or 12 minutes in a taxi but completely doable walking. The traditional old town of Chania is also worth a visit. We would definitely return for a family holiday, a truly outstanding place to stay.
