This is the perfect place for people that are looking for quieter, smaller spaces without big crowds. Has a small kitchen with basic necessities and a laundry space (drying racks available). The person who runs the place is always on site, which is a plus!

Really a last resort. Facilities are filthy and maintained at such a low standard. None of the bathrooms are clean, hardly ever any toilet paper. No space in ANY of the fridges in all 3 kitchens, and extremely unreliable WiFi that was only available for half a day. I wish I had something nice to say but I truly don't understand why this place is even still running. If you can afford to and if there is any other place in Cairns to stay, go there instead of City Backpackers. Really disappointing:(

I was not happy with this hostel at all. On arrival, I thought that my room was pre-paid, and was shocked when the lady on reception told me this was not the case. I could not connect to the hostel Wi-Fi to check my bank balance so had to go to a shopping centre to check. I saw that I could not afford the bill to stay for the 4 nights, so I sent an e-mail straight away to let them know I could not afford to stay so not to expect me. Later on that night, they still charged the full balance on my bank card and I had to go through ******* to get a refund. Had I not been given a refund, I would have struggled to feed myself for the rest of my holiday as I am on a budget. I found the staff members very rude and unhelpful.

我們訂這裡是因為《孤獨星球》上說這裡有嚴格的安靜環境政策,結果卻發現並不是這麼回事兒。晚上8點后沒人值班,所以大家都為所欲為。電視雖然關了,但門口有人在喝酒,一直到凌晨2點才消停。每天早上,廚房的臟碗堆得如小山一般。入住的時候這裡有一幫小混子,要是員工不在,他們就開始造反了。從這裏走路到市區足足要15-20分鐘。這裡有免費的晚餐。房間寬敞乾淨,員工也不錯。總的來說,下次如果來的話我們會換個地方,多花點錢,可以睡個好覺。
