We had a lovely few days staying at Altes Landeshaus as a family & the team really looked after us during our stay. The grounds are lovely & quiet & the pool is an added bonus. The breakfasts on the terrace were substantial & filling & we enjoyed a dinner one evening. In all a great stay in a great place.

Great stay here in a beautiful setting with most welcoming hosts and staff. Very spacious accommodation and rooms with lovely gardens and views. The pool area was very inviting just a bit early in the season to swim ! Great food and service. We loved the breakfasts on the verandah with the open fire. The hospitality was fantastic and we hugely appreciated watching the Springboks game in the lodge lounge with the hosts and some of their family and friends. We visited the Cango caves and the Swartberg pass from there - both great.

From arrival we were made to feel very welcome. All staff were attentive and helpful. Food is excellent, accommodation fabulous, large room, well furnished, clean and comfortable. Beautiful gardens. Good location for accessing Cango caves and other attractions, such as Buffelsdrift Game Lodge.

This is honestly one of the best places I have ever stayed. The staff are so attentive and it feels like they really care that you are having a good time and are really looking after you. The wee touches made all the difference such as noticing when we were a little cold, providing blankets and a hot water bottle in the bed. There is a beautiful lounge with games and an honesty bar and several guests congregated there after dinner for games & chat. When I'd commented on the lovely homemade bread served at dinner (which was great & reasonably priced too), it suddenly appeared at breakfast too. Just lovely attention to detail!

What a lovely couple of days. Very friendly owner and staff. Extremely helpful. The residence is set in a lovely rural area, next to a wine yard, with wine tasting and restaurant. The food in the lodge was excellent, using fresh local ingredients. Definitely worth a stay.

Loved it. Such a tranquil place, a different world away from the hustle& bustleof life. Our room was beautiful, food was fabulous & the staff were so friendly and just lovely. Our only problem was we could stay longer. We had 2 nights here on our way from Franschhoek to Plettenberg & it's a perfect stop in between. We done the Swartberg Pass drive to Prince Albert and called at Meiringspoort Waterfall on the way back, a great circular drive.

We arrived at the guesthouse in May 2024 after driving from Cape Town. We arrived around 4pm and were met by staff who helped with our cases and checked us in. The guesthouse as quiet and we were the only guests at the time as it was low season. This guesthouse is ideal for a stop off if travelling from Cape Town to drive the garden route. It is approx 10 min drive out of Oudtshoorn or 5 min from Bufflesdrift game reserve( which is worth a visit to do the elephant experience) The guesthouse has lovely grounds and the lounge is perfect to relax in front of the fire with a glass of wine on an evening. Just wanted to say thank you to all the staff for making us feel welcomed and relaxed during our stay!

A beautiful lodge at the end of a long day's driving on route 62. Large comfortable suite, old fashioned courtesy and good food awaited us. The owner thoughtfully lit a log fire in the dining room as it was a cool evening and the canvas drapes didn't quite block out the chill. Gorgeous bougainvillea everywhere, a beautiful garden and small swimming pool.
