Amazing staff and lovely old place with nice onsen on site. Good breakfast in the morning and right near free shuttle to kanko/onsen ski fields. Nice buffet breakfast every day and they do a great dinner too

This might be one of my favourite hotels i've ever stayed in. Our family of four (including two adult children) spent a week here and we LOVED it. The traditional Japanese bedrooms are so comfortable with their own bathrooms, great heating, really comfortable bedding and huge window that looked right out over the Akakura ski resort. The highlight is definitely the owner/ manageress Meiko and her amazing team of staff. They cannot do enough for you, Meiko speaks such good english and can help plan and book anything you need including taxis, local restaurants and even train tickets. The buffet breakfast every morning offers everything from french pastries to english bacon and eggs as well as japanese and asian options, and the bar and lounge area with a great open log fire is the best place to finish your day. There is also a great indoor and outdoor onsen, this place has everything you need. It's at the end of the main restaurant and bar *****, and within 10 minutes walk of two chairlifts.

Wonderful place to stay. Meiko the manager is so helpful. Rooms are lovely as is the common room & bar. The hotel is well placed for the ski slopes and the town. Restaurants are all around. Meiko will help with bookings. The hotel will pick you up & drop off at the train & bus. Overall a wonderful place to stay!

We did our 1st trip prior to COVID and brought family back for our second because it is that good. Great hospitality, people always happy to assist to make your stay pleasurable. The snow was magical and the surrounding town, restaurants and bars too notch! We will definitely be back. Again!

kogakuro was perfect for our japan snow trip , Kogakuro is right in the middle of Myoko town. The hotel, staff and food were all amazing. Not to mention the onsens . we loved the little bar also after big days on the mountain. I cant wait to return next winter
