Taormina Hotel Calipso

The staff was very sweet and helpful. Loved that we had a huge balcony that faced the sea. Breakfast was nice but very simple. Charged us to take coffee to our room which seemed unfair since it was "free breakfast". Beds were not so comfortable and they need more mirrors and plugs for a room that sleeps 4-6. Property a bit run down.

Wonderful family hotel, every detail is made with love. Next to an old church, the view from our hotel room was amazing. The restaurant has fresh sea food and you can order a special menu, where they drive with little boats through the restaurant, the food is on them. Beautiful wooden handmade boats, the waiter then wears a captains outfit. The pool is filled with plastic toys to use and the beach is just right over the street. I only didn’t liked the loud music they were already playing in the morning. The staff is super friendly and you feel like you are living with an Italian family.

Excellent location but only an amateur or an inexperienced can put himself in the little space that there is to make hotel with tiny and uncomfortable rooms, swimming pool with day and night clatter and always dirty and badly cleaned both for incompetence and for lack of equipment and restaurant noisy and with poor cooking and with zero lighting, you eat with the mobile phone torch and not closing the pool for lunch and dinner where customers, children and waiters can fall into it getting hurt and maybe falling with food. If there are no spaces, it is better to reduce and not create a jumble of things. Only parking could be fine. I repeat only the amateurs get to work in this old and dilapidated hotel, restaurant and swimming pool in the little space available, Final judgment, to be closed.

ATTENZIONE! UN INCUBO! Non buttate i vostri risparmi soggiornando in questo “hotel”. Sporcizia, disordine, maleducazione dei titolari, dipendenti disorientati. Capelli nel frigobar. Ruggine ovunque. Titolari maleducati che aggrediscono i clienti. Puzza di fritto e cucinato tutto il giorno. Disorganizzazione e confusione totale. Colazione RIDICOLA ed ai limiti della presa in giro, bevande servite nei bicchieri usa e getta di plastica e caffè addirittura a pagamento!!! Se ordino un caffè a colazione ti chiedono gli EXTRA!!!

We have just stays for a week at this establishment and had a most pleasant stay. Everyone is friendly , efficient and helpful. The whole hotel is very clean. The restaurant serves great food with fresh ingredients. The location is excellent for both local amenities and to Taormina.

Wonderful place, pleasant staff and captivating atmosphere. The food is excellent and the service friendly. Good hotel and nice pool. The rooms are clean and everything works. Here, customers are taken into account. Love!

Hotel Calipso is in an excellent location and comes at an excellent price. It is five minutes walk from the Letojanni train station and just across the road from the beach. It has it's own swimming pool too. Our room was on the ground floor and had it's own little enclosed terrace area. If you opened the door you were directly at the pool area, so it was really just a matter of stepping outside and jumping in. Go a bit further and you're crossing the street, or on the beach. This meant that it could get a little noisy (depending on who was in the pool) but was also nice to feel part of the action. And there's a bit of action.This is such a lovely family-friendly hotel...a wide mixture of guests, mostly Italian when we were there, some little kids, some big kids, some grannies and grandads and everyone kind of mixes in together. There is a little bar and restaurant right next to the pool area and this was also so convenient. We could just pop out and grab an Aperol Spritz (it gets added to your bill), then sit at our table on the terrace. Every night, you'd get big groups of extended Italian families dining together on fresh seafood here. The restaurant food was in keeping with the ambience: fresh, simple, tasty family fare - so fresh fish, spaghetti, salads. The room itself is fairly newly decorated and well kept with motel-style fittings and a nice big bathroom. It's nothing exciting decor-wise, more utilitarian but nice enough for the price. The air conditioning worked really well and the door to the poolside was quite sound proof too, which was great at night. One of the best things about the hotel was the family who ran it: Santina and her parents, cousins, brothers and sisters were so helpful and awesome and really made us feel at home. Hotel Calipso is a great place to stay, modest but welcoming and big on the family vibes. We would highly recommend it and would definitely stay here again.

Stanza grandissima (203), balcone immenso che guarda mare e piscina, ottima pulizia e prima colazione da sistemare. Ottimo il ristorante dove il proprietario Salvatore, ex pescatore, quasi ogni mattina esce per andare a pescare con la sua barca. Quello che trova lo si può mangiare già a pranzo e le stelle non bastano per classificare la cucina dove si trova la figlia ai fornelli. L'altro figlio, assieme a parenti, gestisce il ristorante e l'albergo che ha sole 14 camere. Passare un periodo di vacanze al Calypso è come stare in famiglia, a casa propria. Non si tratta di assegnazione di stelle come valutazione, ma il sentirsi sempre a proprio agio credo che valga il firmamento.
