Crescent Victoria Hotel

Clean tidy hotel room. Nicely decorated. The king size(maybe bigger) bed was extremely comfortable. The only down points were the windows let in a lot of cold air. Okay, the first night there was a gale force wind and secondly the windows I think were original Georgian single pain glass. The bathroom was very nice and also clean but the shower didn't fit the holder properly so I had to hold it when showering and there was a hole in the pipe that leads from the mixer to the shower head so water was firing out all over. Those are the only 2 points that were wrong with the room otherwise the room was fine so don't be put off.

We booked a king room. The room was very small, but had everything we needed, bed comfy, ensuite facilities good. The hotel is in a good location, close to the harbour. The area was very representative of Margate, a bit run down, but full of character with many historic landmarks. The price was good very value for Margate.

Initially stayed here Easter 2024 and then rebooked for a family event at Easter 2025. Paid in full for my room at the time for 2025. Now I find in December 2024 my booking has been cancelled. Reason given hotel is closing down 🤔 So a little investigating proved this wrong, infact despite my room being cancelled I found I can still book in this hotel for the same dates and three rooms left. The difference .. price has been doubled! YEP DOUBLED!

Give this hotel a try in Margate the couple who have just taken it over are so welcoming and helpful. Booked on a whim for a Saturday night stay. Had a call from hotel asking what time we would arrive and advised that the room would be nice and warm with the heating on. Couple very knowledgeable about local area and gave us some pointers. Upgraded to a room with sea views. Room and bed were great and very clean. Good luck to them both and we will be back - thx again 🙏

On arrival, and getting parked ( a lottery!) We were greeted by 2 pleasant ladies, we had a chat and went to the room, decor was OK, but then the problems started. The door on the bathroom was so stiff it looked as if the handle was loose due to tugging the door open! The toilet was constantly running so wouldn't flush ,the decorative flush mont fell off in my hand, the shower had no heat control know and the seat of the toilet wasn't fixed.we explained this to our host who assured us that this will be rectified .we returned some 6 hours later with no guest services at all and NOTHING had been rectified. We were also informed there was no breakfast due to the room being refurbished ( we now know that this poor excuse has been used for at least 1 year, maybe more. This is clearly a B and B ( without the last B ....... Chances of getting a refund? Probably none £170 for a bed for one night,BTW, there were no guest services in the morning we left, tea and coffee was in a " wardrobe". ******* also had the front to take a further £ 30 from me clearly not having checked these folk out. Did I mention ******* So I would avoid both this "hotel" and *******. I have video evidence of this room but can't show it.....shame!

This could have been a gorgeous experience. It looked good on the ******* site, the hotel was spotless, lovely decor and pictures on the walls. And perfectly positioned in the posh part of Margate 20 minutes from the Tidal Pool. BUT…oh dear. My friend’s smoke alarm went off at 3 am both the nights we were there waking the whole house. My smoke alarm was illegal in that the battery was pulled out and wires hung down with the cover off. My shower had the temperature control knob missing so you could not adjust it (luckily it wasn’t freezing or scalding) and there was no soap at all in the bathroom and the long suffering cleaner delivered me some poured into a teacup. When we complained about the far too early morning alarms we were told the engineer was coming after we had left…when we mentioned this to friends, one of which now lives in Margate, they all rolled their eyes and said “we could have told you not to stay there”. I felt rather like Alex Polizzi, the Hotel Inspector, that this one had potential if only the owner could sort out these basic mistakes. We would have loved to have come back but need our sleep and felt that at £100 a night and the rest with no breakfast included, there were better places to stay….
