The Good , The Bad and The Ugly . My partner and I are still on holiday in Crete , being totally honest I'm sorry I chose to say at The Blue Bay Hotel. Our idea of a holiday is to relax and chill out , due mainly to the over loud music played at the main poolside bar and main internal bar we avoided these areas and took ourselves away from the complex to find some peace and quiet . The staff are excellent the hotel clean and well presented but sadly being let down by a number of issues. It's the worst all inclusive drinks package I've ever experienced. If you don't like raki ,ouzo or cheap wines and beer your pocket will take a hit purchasing branded alternatives. The food choice is wide but on our first three days the hot meals were stone cold . The hot plates were tepid and I left my meal .It's obvious many people complained as on the fourth day the hotel upped their game and the choice of options was excellent and at last hot. I reported that out room door was possibly faulty as we were coming back from days out to find the door unlocked . Today same thing again ,door unlocked.I've asked reception to request the cleaners lock the door once room is cleaned ...again. Avoid the all inclusive snacks bar ,like the drinks offering, the worst I've ever encountered at a 4 star hotel .Pizza , dreadful sandwiches and cake .Use the restaurant for lunch much better choice . The walls in the bedrooms are wafer thin , that aside bathroom roomy and shower excellent . As a resort I would totally avoid if you have any mobility issues ,the local beach however is a peaceful haven from the overpowering pool bar music of the hotel. I asked to use the hotel laundry service to discover one doesn't exist .First hotel I've ever encountered who don't provide a laundry option. The hotel is pretty isolated as mentioned in the holiday brochure , small beach locally and 10 euro taxi one way to visit Agia Pelagia resort . Further afield you can catch a bus outside hotel to Heraklion for 8 euro return, about 50 minutes journey time. It's my first ever visit to Greece and quite frankly overall not impressed. In my experience Croatia, Turkey , Montenegro and The Canaries far superior in every way . What really annoys me is the need to leave the complex to get away from the dreadful over loud music at the bars ,and the appalling drinks offering . This involved spending more money ,but I was happy to get away from the complex . I could sit in the beautiful reception area for some quiet ,but why avoid the great weather on holiday . The barman obviously plays music he loves and very loud .Looking around the hotel there are a number of age groups but in the main the hotel attracts 50 and 60 age brackets .I'm sure like me they would prefer chilled quieter easy listening rather than feel you are in a rave . Management should tell the staff to play music the paying customer will enjoy not his favourite boom boom boom excuse . Suffice to say the hotel is very clean , food in the resta
