"Room: We’d booked a double but were given a self-catering twin with the beds pushed together. It wasn’t quite what we expected, but we enjoyed the added bonus of having an in-room fridge. The room was cleaned daily and fresh towels were always provided. Tip — if you plan to use the air con, make sure the patio doors are fully closed or it won’t work! Only two English TV channels — the ever-repetitive Sky News and BBC News — so we used our Chromecast to stream shows and music off my inclusive O2 data. Food: Despite some negative reviews, I found something I liked every day. Breakfast is a bit repetitive, but most hotel breakfasts are! Lovely grilled meats in the evenings, and although you may have to wait 10–15 minutes for a free table if you’re late, it’s not a big deal. Snacks are limited to pastries and ham/cheese sandwiches — crisps are not included. Drinks: Don’t forget your €1 for the plastic cup deposit. Drinks are standard for all-inclusive: San Miguel on draft, three house wines from the pump, soft drinks, and around five “local” spirits. Water is available from a pump, but you need your cup or bottle. Measures can be inconsistent depending on the staff, but it’s not a major issue. Staff: All the staff we met were friendly and worked hard. Some guests were rude at times, and the staff simply mirrored that, which is fair. Personally, I can’t fault them — they were great. Location: Excellent — within 10 minutes’ walk to Cala Bona and Cala Millor. We preferred Cala Bona for better-priced shops and more restaurant choices. Safe and convenient. Pool / Entertainment: The pool is good, although small. Sunbeds are mostly used 12–4pm, so towels put out earlier just sit there. There is basically no entertainment — no music, bingo, or structured activities. On our last night, there was a strange act screeching like Prince — most guests looked confused. This is very much a sit-around-and-make-your-own-fun hotel. Check-in / Check-out: Check-in was basic: “Sign this, here’s your bands, here’s your key.” No info about food timings or entertainment. Check-out was excellent: our bags were stored from 11am until our 7pm departure, and we kept our bands with full access to food and drinks — a huge help. Overall: It’s a clean, friendly hotel with decent food and drinks, but there’s very little to do, no entertainment, and it’s low-key. Despite the positives, we probably wouldn’t return."

"Have you ever booked your honeymoon, paying for a 5 star hotel, and then arriving to find the whole hotel is under construction? None of the advertised amenities are available because, they too are under construction? Yeah me neither, until we went to Hipotels Hipocampo Palace this week. I rarely write reviews but I felt compelled to share this. We were blatantly misled (frankly lied to). When we requested to move to a different Hipotel property in the area we got put into a 3 or 4 star different hotel while still paying our original price. We lost an entire day of our honeymoon dealing with this, logistics and moving hotels. What did Hipotels give us for upending our honeymoon? A complimentary drink ticket and 10% off coupon at their restaurant. Buyer beware when booking here as the website is completely deceiving and off base (at least until construction is complete). However more disappointing was their lack of service and accountability."

"The single room with a balcony in the main building was fantastic, and the staff were very attentive. However, for my last night's extension, I couldn't get the same room type, so I had to change rooms. They moved me to the annex, which was really bad. There was constant machine noise before 8 PM, and it had been going on since I moved in at 11 AM. The soundproofing was terrible; I could hear everything the neighbors were saying, as if we were in the same room. I've attached a video so you can hear it. Please consider booking the annex if you're unsure."

"We recently stayed for a week as a family. The room was cleaned daily with fresh towels, can’t complain. We did all inclusive one of the days which was good. The grounds and hotel itself it’s nice and clean. The pools games the children loved. We stayed for he entertainment one evening which was enjoyable. Staff all helpful and friendly. The only issue I had was on check out, I asked to use a shower prior to our flight home, which was on the evening. I was told we can use the spa facilities. We headed down and the whole place was absolutely wet through, there were not one single room dry to enable us to get dressed, also no towels (which I would have thought was a given) it was also absolutely red hot down there. Just generally very uncomfortable. I think maybe offering a room would be better, which is what we have been provided in other hotels."

"Nice hotel, bit dated and bathroom lacked a good scrub but was spacious and beds comfy. Pillows not to my personal liking but thats ok. Had an old adjoining room so we heard everything from the room next door, sneezing, talking and snoring! Agh. Balcony huge and facing the mountains which was lovely and we had the sun in afternoon. Food, only had breakfast but they catered well for Gluten free. Had their own station, schar products such as bread, muffins and cereal in packets. Good selection of just about everything else, hot buffet and cold meats cheeses etc. the fruit was delicious and of course drinks both hot and cold. Close to all you needed, gorgeous scenery and restaurants all catering for Gluten free too. Sangria was the best!"

"We had a very good stay in this hotel. The most important thing for us for a holiday to be perfect, is the food, the bed ,the service and the location of the hotel. It ticks all the cases. We didn't go to the swimming-pool very often as it was very windy and the seats could have been a bit more comfortable. The room is not very big and we would have preferred an Italian shower (available in the hotel: our friends had one) but that didn't prevent us from having a great time and recommending the hotel."

"From the moment you’ll walk into this charming hotel you feel sudden tranquility and at peace. It’s located in a heart of town with multiple restaurants nearby just a few minutes walk away. The interior is unique and beautiful. At the reception there’s a polite note where members of the staff can be easily found. The restaurant serves phenomenal breakfast with plenty of tasty choices. The octopus as a starter for dinner is a must! The rooms are clean, private, spacious, bright and you’re instantly feeling at home. The beds are huge and extremely comfortable. The rooftop garden has a mini pool and loungers overlooking beautiful Artá. The owner as well as other staff members couldn’t be more helpful and friendly. The only downside of my stay was that I couldn’t stay there longer :) I’ll definitely be back and would recommend Forn Nou Hotel and restaurant to anyone who appreciates the best things in life :)"

"I stayed for 1 week at Hotel Blue Sea Anba Romani. I had a wonderful experience here. The hotel was very clean and well-maintained with modern furniture that’s actually new. The staff are kind and friendly, and they speak English well, which made the communication easy.😊 I guess most of the receptionists speak German as sell, as I heard. The location is excellent anyway. There are plenty of nearby bars, restaurants, and shops and the beach is just a short walk away. The breakfast was also good and delicious, with a wide variety of options to choose from (each morning). As an overall, everything reached my expectations and I would be happy to stay here again. Maybe next year I will come here again.😊"

"Great location 5 mins to beach and plenty shops , supermarkets and restaurants all in walking distance. Hotel I thought was needing some tlc . Food poor edible but not a great selection salad bar was always lovely but after seeing them taking it from one building to another uncovered I decided not to eat . Rooms were comfortable but cleaning was non existent made beds daily and clean towels but did not clean bathroom whole week we were there nor the floors . Staff not very cheerful. Management aggressive and was not very approachable ( had some issues with room) . Drinks finish at 10 o'clock and no entertainment. Overall despite the hotel had a great holiday went to the beach most days .I would go bad to the area but certainly not the hotel ."
