We stayed here for golf, and from that perspective the hotel was fantastic, located alongside what has to be one of the best courses in the world and just yards from the clubhouse, where we enjoyed outstanding service from everyone, including all the Pro Shop staff. On that basis, we would recommend Loi Suites. As for the hotel itself, there were pluses and minuses. We enjoyed the food in the restaurant, we found bar and restaurant staff to be attentive and friendly and we had a very large and comfortable suite, albeit without any airconditioning, which meant our golf course view had to be blocked by curtains all day long in order to keep a blazing sun at bay. A big minus was the lack of a balcony, promised on the hotel's website. It turns out that only a few suites have balconies, and in any event all those balconies appear to be faux: they are simply wooden appendages (some looking more than a little frayed) bolted onto the outside wall and inaccessible from the rooms themselves. Certainly, no balconies appear to exist at this establishment that one could actually sit on and enjoy a morning coffee on. As for coffee - we were informed by Reception on day two of our three-night stay that only two pods per room are complimentary, irrespective of the length of stay. Make of that little instance of mean-mindedness what you will. Finally, we were checked into a room below the category our travel agent actually booked and which we'd paid for. When we raised this with Reception, we were offered a genuine suite with an outside deck, but since this offered no view at all, being on the ground floor and blocked, in stifling heat, by a small hillock, we settled for the smaller suite we'd had our luggage delivered to. An apology would have been nice, but none was forthcoming, and there was no suggestion of any refund. One can't help but feel that encouraging Reception staff to be just a little more customer-focused would do this hotel no harm at all.
