Nice location with a good view of the Lake. Dinner and breakfast buffet offered a good variety of food. Had an enjoyable stay. Would love to visit again

Front desk staff greeting in good english, letting us know a firework at 20:30. Nice spacious hotel room, yet facing mountain side, no special view. Busy hotel restaurant, not easy to get a seat or get some food, queuing up everywhere, limited choice of food. Location wise, good.

Although hotel abit old fashioned but buffet spread for breakfast and dinner was good. Bonus point is the onsen which was very quite big n well equipped

This hotel is aged hotel , the old wings room are too old fashion . I suggest them need to renovation the old wings (JADE)

Even though functional, the hotel needs a major refurbishment. Cramped bathroom, old faucets, horrible shower head and no air conditioning (or not turned on). We got a good deal so it’s bearable. But for 40000 yen, it’s not worth your money, although lake facing rooms have pretty view.

It is an older hotel, and the room facilities are old. There were a lot of ********* tour groups when I checked in. The buffet dinner was pretty good, with a wide variety of food, including barbecue and so on. The toilet in the room was very small, but fortunately I could take a bath in the bathroom directly after taking a hot spring bath. The open-air hot spring was pretty good, I liked it very much~

The toilet in the room has a very strong odor. Once the door is opened, the whole room is filled with odor. I can only try not to open the toilet door. I really don't understand why the odor is so strong, and I don't know what the odor is. I can only say that I have never stayed in a hotel with such a stinky toilet. I am not picky. Other facilities are also relatively old. The buffet has a lot of varieties, and the products are average. Anyway, I won't stay there next time

Different dinner time options are provided upon check-in. The buffet is just average, but because dinner offers Genghis Khan BBQ, the smell of BBQ in the lobby is quite strong. During dinner time, someone will come into the room to help make the bed, but it may be old and the equipment is a bit old. However, the open-air mixed bathing on the top floor is a big plus, and they provide swimsuit changes.

Before departure, I was struggling between Tsuruga and Shin-Akan, but I decided to take a chance even though the reviews were not very good. Maybe I didn't have high hopes, but the result was very pleasantly surprised. There was a fat girl at the front desk who looked really bad, which was much worse than the service staff of other hotels in Japan. I didn't find anything else unpleasant. I booked the cheapest Japanese-style room, which was a bit old, but still clean and not small. The most surprising thing was the dinner and breakfast, which were very rich and had many choices. The price was really amazing. The hotel's bathing area was also large and comfortable, and the open-air one was especially good.

Shin-Akan is obviously an old hotel. The buffet is OK. The highlight is that there is a large public outdoor swimming pool upstairs. It is mixed for men and women. You need swimsuits. The hotel has prepared them. You can wear theirs. There are swimsuits in the bathroom, or you can wear your own. The open-air hot spring is quite good. You basically take a bath in the hotel's hot spring. The bathroom is very small. In winter, Lake Akan is completely frozen. Maybe because of the weather, you can hardly see any scenery. It is more fun to play snowmobiles and snow sleds. The hotel has a very big problem, because there is a self-service grill for dinner, and many people will grill meat. The restaurant is completely open on the first floor, making the whole building full of the smell of barbecue, which is very bad.

The scenery is beautiful but the facilities are old and the buffet is average

1. The crystal room I stayed in was a bit historical, but the only drawback was that the heater was broken. It was quite a stay for just one night. 2. There is a hawker shop downstairs, and things are very cheap. 3. Morning and evening buffet, you can try new things (there is nothing to eat around) 4. The open-air hot spring is great, especially watching the sunrise in the morning, I feel really good 5. One Akan specialty snack and drink will be provided upon check-in.

The location was great and the view of Lake Akan from the window was beautiful. There was a wide variety of food options for both breakfast and dinner, and everything was delicious.
