The homestay is a 10 min walk down from the road, nestled in an apple orchard and over looking a stream. The location is stunning and the rooms are spacious, warm, well done and welcoming, however what makes the place really special is the person who manages and run the place, Nitesh. Nitesh is a very evolved, warm and hospital gentleman who has a holistic view of life, is keen on giving the local children a better world view and education, a conservationist and a true community person who lives in harmony with the locals and balances the needs of the guests who come to stay with him and the staff who work with him, ensuring profit is not the mainstay of the place. Close to the stream, is an 80 yr old flour mill that is powered by the stream water and is quite an engineering feat, be sure to check it out. It's a marvel! This homestay is very close to Jalori pass, so Serolsar lake and the nearby fort are popular tourist destinations. We decided to give the lake a miss and Nitesh took us for a trek across the stream where we found morel mushrooms, edible fern shoots and even spotted a baby leopard! The food and service is really good. The rooms have a most glorious smell of deodar. Nitesh is also a musician who played the guitar for us and sand some soulful songs which we thoroughly enjoyed, around the campfire. The experience was an unforgettable one that sets it apart from the other commercialised resorts in the area that are mushrooming all over. We booked only two nights and wished we had booked for longer, we are surely going back for more!
