Van der Valk Plaza Beach & Dive Resort Bonaire

We've been vacationing at Plaza for many many years. We enjoy it here very much. We meet great people from all over and have become friends. The staff and management treat us like family. My husband had a stroke while we were there this year. I can't say enough great things about the owners, management and staff during this time. They all went above and beyond to help us. We spend 3 months during the winter at Plaza. They are improving the resort every year. It's amazing. You can walk right into the ocean and snorkel or dive and see beautiful fish etc. I can't say enough great things about Plaza Beach Resort. We call it our home away from home. We are know by staff as MA and PA Canada. Now that West Jet flies direct from Toronto we love it even better if that is even possible. The island is quaint and enjoyable. I must also say the hospital and medical staff are one of the best I've ever had to deal with. 20 out of 10 for Bonaire, Plaza and the medical care.

Resort is ok. Dive crew at Toucan is great. Our room was good and quiet. Ac didn’t really work in our room and the toilet had a leak. Reported it to front desk but didn’t see any action taken to fix it. Pool bar staff was great, but watch your stuff when you leave it on the poolside beds as people just throw it aside and take your spot. Really should be a reserved spot situation to avoid that. Food was great. Major upgrade from the old point restaurant.

I booked a grand suite 2 queen beds and when we arrived it was just 1 bed with not even a door separating the bath from room the room was hot and air conditioning did not work and the window in bathroom does not close first night in the morning went to front desk to let them know they had given us the wrong kind of room the front desk is a long walk from the rooms and no one answer when you press 0 the front desk did give us another room but that room ended up having a broken bathtub safe was locked and door bolt did not lock . The price of this resort is very overpriced for being an all inclusive they only have 1 restaurant and 1 bar and the food at restaurant doesn’t have many food options. And not all food and drinks are all inclusive. The also asked for a card for incidentals and said they would only charged for damages or any special charge my card was charged $818 more dollars when we changed rooms I had already paid for our room in advance with my credit card so no charges should of ever been charged to my debit card and they didn’t even notify me that they did it by mistake. It was a big mistake because my card should have never been charged for anything and front desk told me they just write it down just in case. No they put it in system and run the card. Also check out is at 10am and if you want to continue using facilities til your flight they charge $25 an hour Smdh nothing at resort is worth $25 extra an hour per person. At most all inclusive you are still allowed to use facilities on check out day especially when check in is at 3 pm and check out is at 10am. The place has a beautiful beach and beautiful pool and bar staff are great. But goodluck getting a drink at dinner we had already finished our food both nights before even getting water or anything and they only offer buffet so not a real restaurant.

The new Part is fantastic and clean. New rooms, new beds, new appartments are realy beautiful. the food is also good

My first time at Bonaire was a very positive experience. Most of my stay I was really happy, positive about almost anything. For me, as a quiet sleeper, the airco during the night was to loud, so I had to turn it off, which made my room to hot, not the best way to sleep. The other thing is that although I am a big swimmer, preferable in the sea, it is nowhere mentioned that you need special shoes to go into the water because of all the rocks. A big disappointment. Still as i checked the details at the site of the hotel, it is never advised to bring special swimming shoes for the sea.

Plaza Bonaire is such a great place. I hope the renovations are soon ready, that will enhance the experience tremendously. The rooms are spacious, the new restaurant is great - both in style as well as in food presentation, the staff is super hospitable. See you soon again.

Nice stay. Still under remodeling construction. Some rooms have no ceiling fans and can get very warm with the humidity. Staff in main restaurant not the best, and the food could be better. Pool bar has better food. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Toucan Dive shop and their staff are fantastic! Would definitely dive with them again. I would also stay at this resort again.

The dive crew was awesome. The boats are well maintained and the rooms were very spacious and clean. The property is really nice! The pool area is open and the cabanas and lounging areas really made it special. Our group of over 40 people non-divers and divers went home happy :)

This all-inclusive family-friendly resort is a short drive from Flamingo Airport but far enough that you are not bothered by planes taking off and landing. The grounds, a small part of which is in work to finish the new reception building, are large and lush with greenery, flowers, and tropical birds. The beach has a coral reef with plenty of colorful fish right off the long beachfront. The Caribbean water has two entry points, off the sandy beach and a set of stars with handrails off to one side. The new fresh water pool which is near the beach is the largest on the island. The pool bar was busy serving cold beer and tropical drinks all day long. Toucan Diving on the resort’s lagoon is well equipped with three dive boats, plenty of new rental gear, and a friendly, helpful staff. The brand-new restaurant is over the top with varied seating and not the typical boring, all-inclusive, buffet food. There are plenty of choices including prepared hot and cold dishes and a chef to prepare entrees to-order. The staff, especially Ronald, keep this place going. Our room was very large and sufficiently maintained by housekeeping per our requests. Pre-Travel Recommendations: Pay the $75 Bonaire visitor fee within seven days before you depart to save time at immigration. Also, in addition to t-shirts, bring rubber water shoes, your favorite shampoo and bath soap to feel like you are on your own private, care-free escape in the tropics.
