I was so exited to stay at this hotel as the photos online were so beautiful. But honestly it did not live up to expectations for many reasons. IT just wasn’t the luxury hotel I was expecting. Firstly, the hotel caters to large bus tours. This takes away the charm as there are constantly large groups checking in and out and luggage and golf clubs everywhere. If you’re looking for quiet charm, this isn’t it. It’s like a motor lodge on a highway, with large groups of loud American pensioners checking in and out every day. My first impression….The head bellman, Sean, who assisted me to my room, was just so unwelcoming , he didn’t even greet me just waved at me to follow him, he didn’t talk to me except to tell me that my luggage was “so heavy”. He didn’t tell me about the room, didn’t use my name, didn’t talk about the hotel, didn’t ask me if I needed anything, just grabbed his tip and left. Not a good first impression. He made me feel like I was bothering him. The dining options here are so limited. The breakfast service is shockingly bad. Servers could not care less about getting your order correct. They served my toast and coffee to the table next to me one day, the next day brought my toast to me ten minutes before my breakfast, so the toast was then cold. The continental buffet is picked over and things are not fresh. Old stale scones and old fruit. One day I ordered avocado toast and it was a half piece of bread, Not even toasted, covered in store bought cheap guacamole. It was so gross. I expected more Irish food and specialities, but no. The food quality is just poor. No flavor. Everything needed salt. Not even average, really just poor. The servers need a lot of training. Treated myself to afternoon tea. They serve it in lobby. Not in the lovely, quiet and private Reading Room or one of the private salons, in the lobby. The food was plentiful but very bland. Service was amazing. In the middle of my tea service a huge bus tour checked in right next to where I was sitting. So I got to have tea while a loud group of bus tour people stared at me. This ruined the experience. Again, no attention to detail. The lady who served me at tea, Martina, was delightful. She’s a gem! But the food wasn’t good. My room , while lovely, wasn’t cleaned well and was recently renovated but had no air conditioning. Some rooms have AC, some don’t, but they don’t tell you that. Deceptive. The room cleaner left dirty coffee cups, wet towels, and didn’t empty the garbage. I had to call every day to request replacements of things like coffee, clean tea cups, shampoo……there was no attention to detail. The rooms have No luxury touches. No turn down. Nothing special. It’s very unclear where you can eat lunch and dinner. This hotel has several dining venues that don’t seem to be open. Why not serve drinks in your beautiful garden? Why can’t you make a dinner booking at Brownes? Why is booking afternoon t
