Fern Grotto Inn

Fern Grotto Inn is wonderful! It is in a great location, convenient to driving in any direction. The Inn provides many comforting extras so that you don't need to overpack or buy items unnecessarily. (Beach towels, beach chairs, coolers, kayaks, snorkel gear, etc.) The Inn was quiet and comfortable. We loved the privacy of Coco A and would certainly stay here again if we have an opportunity to return to Kauai.

Fern Grotto Inn is the perfect lodging on Kaua’i. Easy access to all parts of the island, wonderful amenities and a fantastic owner. Easy check-in/out, spotless housekeeping and a welcome binder full of useful information and recommendations. Kick your shoes off, put on your slippahs and enjoy your stay!

This is very private, great views of river and palms (garden cottage) and has everything you need to be comfortable. You can walk to the beach crossing just one crosswalk but even driving there is always room to park (Lyndale beach). The access to free kayaks, paddle board and bicycles is a plus as the river and bike path are great. There are no additional fees for parking or use of resort fees, just simple and easy. The gas bbq grills were a plus as well as the multiple areas outside to have dinner.

Charming vintage house. Close walk to beach and river. Clean and especially well stocked kitchen. A large table for lifelong friends to gather evenings to share stories and play games. Newer friends were made with the green gecko who lives on the back porch, and the garden roosters and chickens on the property. Ample parking . We felt very safe.

My wife did all the research on places to stay in Kauai and pick this place. We loved the first minute we saw it. It is centrally located so if you’re planning on going north or south it’s right there in the middle so you don’t have to travel all the way around the island when you’re done for the day. It is meticulously cared for and has every amenity you can want. There is a canal right behind the Inn which gives easy access to the river and the inn provides kayaks. Free of charge. It’s on a first come first serve basis. It’s also vey quiet and we never once heard any the neighbors.

If you are looking for a relaxing oasis within steps of adventure, look no further than the Fern Grotto Inn. We spent 1 week in the River Cottage for our honeymoon and had the most amazing trip! We kayaked to secret falls using the complimentary kayaks. We paddle boarded the Wailua River. We grilled and ate fresh mangos straight from the tree. And, all of these activities happened within or launched directly from the Fern Grotto Inn. When we wanted to venture outside of the complex, we could easily walk to the Coconut Marketplace and beyond for drinks and meals (highly, highly recommend the tasting menu at Hukilau Lanai). Additionally, the location is close to the airport and central to both the south and north side of the island for day trips. The property manager and his team has thought of everything you could need and maintain a meticulously clean complex. We highly recommend the Fern Grotto Inn and would love to stay there again on a future trip to Kauai!
