I had a mixed experience with this booking.
Unfortunately, my reservation was double-booked. What made it worse was the lack of proper communication — I did not receive any email or phone call about the issue. In fact, I even received a confirmation email the day before my stay. The only notification was sent through the Trip.com app, which I did not have installed, so I was completely unaware of the situation.
When I arrived for self check-in, I was surprised to find that there was no key available. I immediately contacted the host, who arrived quickly and explained that the room had been double-booked and was no longer available. This was quite stressful, especially since it was cherry blossom season and I was worried about not having a place to stay.
That said, the host handled the situation very well. She was kind, responsive, and took full responsibility. She quickly contacted another hotel, arranged a room for me, covered the taxi fare, and paid the price difference for the new accommodation.
The replacement hotel was comfortable, and I also received compensation from Trip.com the following day. Aside from the initial inconvenience, the rest of my stay went smoothly.
Overall, while the booking issue was frustrating, I appreciate the host’s professionalism and effort to resolve the problem promptly.
