Perched high on top of a lush green hillside in Lai Chi Kok, Heritage Lodge (a part of Jao Tsung-I Academy) is only a few minutes’ walks from Mei Foo MTR station and easy connections to other popular tourist attractions in Hong Kong. But it could be worlds away from the urban hustle and bustle below in terms of culture and ambiance.
Designed with utility in mind, Heritage Lodge is a fusion of local Chinese and Western architectural elements, reflecting Hong Kong’s East-West nature. The Lodge consists of 5 pitched-roof double-storey buildings with over 100 years of history. It creates an exceptional accommodation experience for every guest.
The 89 spacious and comfortable guest rooms, including 5 suites, are all furnished in contemporary Chinese style and well equipped with modern amenities. Each room also contains traditional Chinese artwork such as calligraphy or painting. In the quiet atmosphere of the Lodge, you can wake after a peaceful night’s sleep to vibrant birdsong, before venturing at the tables outside, perhaps to enjoy your morning coffee and the green leafy environment while overlooking the rest of the Academy below.
In the areas below the Lodge, known as Middle Zone and Low Zone, there is a cluster of distinctive red brick buildings, also boasting over one hundred years of history, Jao Tsung-I Academy.
For over a century, this place has reflected the many historical and social changes of Hong Kong. This heritage cluster, through a sequence of historical events, conveys many stories; in fact, it is the story of Hong Kong. Its various functions in different periods is a convincing testimony of Hong Kong’s changing social landscape over time.
While its proximity to modern city life renders it a rare oasis within the city, Jao Tsung-I Academy is also a one-stop cultural hub offering a wide range of events and facilities including The Gallery, Heritage Hall, Theatre, Lecture Hall, conference facilities, exhibition halls, a restaurant and a cafe.
