Petra Village

We visited Petra village with my family!The place was wonderful, the location very good(5 minutes driving from Hersonisos)!The rooms were very clean!!! The staff Vasilis and Vaso was very helpful and friendly and they made us feel like we were at our hope!!!

Best time ever. Vaso and the team are amazing. They’ll do anything to help. The rooms were very clean! Could not fault them. Comfortable, and good value for money (we paid for flights and hotel separately) Will be returning next year! Can’t wait to make more memories

After arriving at midnight we were told what room had been allocated and left to it. The room had not been cleaned after the previous occupants had left. We were given another room after waiting an hour. Although this one had been cleaned it was very outdated. The toilet window was broken and was covered with a piece of sticky back plastic, there was mould on the walls and the curtains looked more like rags and barely fitted across the windows. Adding to this there was a problem with the electricity and a large generator was running all day in front of the pool area meaning all you could hear and smell was the generator. The sun beds were filthy and the whole place needs a total revamp. No way is this 3 star accommodations I wouldn’t even give them one.

Echo everything said in the negative reviews. Before we came here I thought I would wind up the missus by showing her the scene in the inbetweeners movie where they arrive at the hotel. Oh dear, the reality was worse. On a positive note, Petra Village LOOKS nice from the road and the bar and pool area are pleasant if you ignore the boorish UK regulars getting aled up. However the apartments are disgusting. -The bins are meant to be emptied every day but it was every other day if lucky. Given you cannot flush toilet paper down the toilets and the bathrooms have no extractor fans, the stench becomes pretty grim pretty quickly. -On arrival late at night we had the keys given to us, no directions where our apartment was and told air con was an extra €6 a day. The air con was very intermittent and had clearly seen better years (decades). -The beds are concrete slabs with a matress. -The bedding and towels had suspicious soil marks. -The shower curtain was so mouldy that it practically walked. -There is no way you could self cater as virtually no equipment and what there was was dirty and rusty. The microwave looked like it hadnt been cleaned in years. -There was one maid for the entire complex and it was clear it was too much for her. -Reading the positive reviews there are glowing reviews of the owners and how friendly they are. Whilst we were there they spent all their time at the bar smoking and on their mobile phones. Overall I got the impression of a tired, dirty complex that needs gutting and starting again. The local village on the other hand is a gem, full of fantastic restaurants and welcoming people. We MAY visit Crete again but would give Petra Village a miss.

Yes we had all the problems listed in the previous reviews plus the added bonus of no electricity.....which meant no hot water and no flushing toilets! A generator was bought in, it sat on the back of a pickup truck making a tremendous noise and billowing out deisel fumes just at the right level to be breathed in as you lay by the pool. As youll have read some people loved it there and some people hated it but my argument is with the tour operators (in our case Jet2 )who are selling this as 3***accommodation, who checks these rooms?? We read some of the earlier bad reviews but thought "no, if can't be that bad or surley Jet2 wouldn't be using it" well sadly we were wrong ☹️ PS Kouloutoufari is just lovely, don't let it put you off going there!

Honest Review,when we arrived our request for lower rooms was met and further more we got a one bedroom apartment instead of a studio ,was really pleased so thankyou for that.Pool area was lovely ,maybe a wee clean around the white grill bits,a wee bit grubby but its near the end of season.Didnt stop us going in pool.Lots of returners,mostly all friendly ,didnt appreciate welsh lady informing my wife she was sitting on her sunbed,so Hi de Hi .Owners were friendly and we felt very welcome ,first time there.Maid service could have been better,but didnt bother us too much,we always bring stuff to clean and wash up.Last week maids left them in the lurch so 2 days the bins werent emptied but they sorted it for us.Sad to leave we made loads of friends and my wife misses the wee pool man,she always gave him lots of hugs,can you please tell him she was asking for him,he was an angel.

What can I say that's not been said nice people yes pool and bar good ,good meals ,drinks at fair price then it all stops apartment not clean or cleaned by cleaners who walked out our last three days ,toilet bin not emptied for three days ,toilet the biggest problem pan disgusting shower tray ingrained stains shower curtain a health hazard,black mould on ceiling and walls shower head held up with tape toilet roll holder hanging off wall ,these faults are all in photos from August on Trip advisor nothing been done!!?. The owner was over from England on holiday he spent lots of time with return guests not once asking any new guests there thoughts or were they enjoying there holiday. The best was still to come when speaking to return guests and passing comments on Petra they would say best to book direct as we must have got an Easy Jet room !!!!.

This place is absolutely filthy! We clearly by the pictures from another review stayed in the same apartment as them, maybe the week after. Koutouloufari is a beautiful place and stayed the previous year at another accommodation. I have never in my life stayed somewhere that provides your own mop, bucket and brush to do your own housework while you are on holiday!! The maid knocks and comes straight into the room at 9.30/10 o’clock in the morning which I think is done tactically so that she doesn’t have to clean. Will empty bins and sometimes leave towels and bedding. We also had my husbands polo shirt my bra!!! And a soap that cost 1 euro taken from our room. Jet 2 need to pull out of this place asap as it’s making them look really bad when they are a fantastic airline. The positive reviews are from regulars that like one of them point out book separately and you know what your getting but when you buy a package holiday you don’t see a breakdown of what you are getting. The only plus about this place is Sotiris who should really think twice about working there!

Our 7th visit. Location fantastic. Views from pool area and our room are amazing at day and night. Vaso, Vasilis and team are the most friendliest people. Nothing is too much trouble. The rooms are basic, dated but we have always found it clean. If we have issues we speak to management who resolve straight away. We have have made so many friends with the repeaters and we are privileged to be part of the petra family. Already booked for June and October 20w4. Thank you petra ❤️
