Castle Rock Hostel - Adults Only

The hostel is well located, it is close to most of the tourist places. The only issue we had was with the service, we were rushing in the morning to check-out on time (February 10, 2024) and leave our luggage in the proper room. In the afternoon when we returned, we realized our polaroid camera was not with us and we had two options, it was left behind the room’s door or it was on the luggage room, so we kindly ask the people at the reception to help us checking in the room. There was a guy (with mustache) and a girl (with shaved head) both of them started making faces at each other as if we were bothering them with our request (save to say they were alone at the reception, they were not doing any specific activity). We finally found our camera at the luggage room, and they were clearly bothered by the fact we kindly ask the guy to go to the room and check. After that, we stayed for about 2 hours at the lounge, and when buying a couple of sodas, the girl gave us an annoyed look as if she didn’t want to even see us, same happened when we asked them to open the door to take our bags and leave. Service is the most important to us when going to any place, and this type of attitudes just left us pretty disappointed, which would be their attitude if there was a real problem? Are they going to be annoyed because people request something that requires them just to stand up and move for 5 minutes or less?

My bag was stored there for a great price I was recommended by the castle people it was great to leave my bag cos it was big and bulky. I'm going to stay there next time I'm in Edinburgh because it's cheap but also they do movie nights and dinner smelt wonderful

Lovely place to stay. Many social activities, kitchen, laundry service - very fast. Lovely staff. Great location. Enjoyed the spaces to relax indoors when the weather was not good outside. Also, being able to store luggage and use the facility even after check out on the day.

Booked out 3 rooms for a rugby tour, the rooms were clean and comfy. The facilities were also kept clean and the staff were friendly and accommodating, definitely recommend staying here if you are visiting Edinburgh

Absolutely the best and coolest hostel I have ever seen and it is not ever an comparasion. For sure I would recommend to everyone and If I ever come back to edinburg,I will return. Unfortunately I did not went to any activicties, but they seemes pretty cool. I used the showers when no one was using but it seemed that you would have to wait a bit in rush hours since they were just a few for the entire floor. Apart from that, impossible to find a cooler hostel

I was delighted to find a cheap bed for the night in an excellent location and a well organised set up. At 63 I was afraid I might be a bit old for a dormitory bed in a hostel but there was a good cross section of people and everyone I met was friendly and considerate. I’d definitely recommend and would return in the future.

Castel Rock Hostel was a great hostel for my friend’s and mine weekend trip to Edinburgh. It was relatively clean, the shared spaces were lovely and had a great Scotland vibe. The location is amazing, you can reach all the great spots by foot and you could see the beautiful castle right next to it. I’ll definitely come back.

My friend and I stayed at castle rock .from 12th till 14 October And we are both in our 50 ti's. But from the moment we walked through the door we were greeted with a warm welcome and check in went smoothly we were both looking forward to a good night sleep in the 12 bunk room the fellow hostel guests in our room seemed fine they were different nationality But unfortunately we never got to bed my friend had a fall and gave herself a head injury and we ended up at the Royal Edinburgh A&E Department But the staff in Castle rock hostel were very good to her from helping her up after her fall with cleaning her head injury the best they could for the kindness they showed until the taxi arrived to take us to hospital we will never forget. So parents that are letting there son or daughter travel for the first time flying the nest to travel your children _adults are in safe hands. Even when staff take them out they really do keep them safe knowing where they are .Once again thank you for helping my friend teresa we were a long way from home 🏡 but with your kindness it took a little of our worry away, Dawn Xx

I traveled by myself (female) to Edinburgh and I felt very safe at this hostel. The reception desk was absolutely stellar - I had to make a local phone call to sort some airline issues and they were so kind about letting me borrow their phone. They were so nice! Their complimentary luggage storage was really helpful and I appreciated their free tea too. I didn’t get a chance to enjoy their cinema room but it looked like fun. It’s close to the castle so expect an inclined walk up to the hostel. Their staff was so helpful and nice!
