When you arrive at Brown’s Jenny provides a warm welcome and helpful info on the local area. The rooms are beautifully decorated and have some very tasteful local art on display. A bonus is that Jenny will provide an evening meal. The risotto was delicious and it was good to relax after a full day out in the local area.

This is a beautiful place to stay! With a warm, friendly welcome from Jenny, we were shown to our suite - a stunningly furnished space that was just perfect for our stay. Everything we needed, and a superb breakfast delivered to our room in the morning. Definitely recommend!

Hard to imagine a more elegant and relaxing place to stay in Whanganui. Beautiful decor, subtle amenities and everything just right. Plus, charming owners. It is an increasingly interesting town with a vibrant scene of design, architecture, and artistic life which sits easily with its farming and colonial heritage.

We stayed in some excellent accommodation in our two weeks touring the north island but this was the best. Not only was the suite beautifully and tastefully decorated, including some of Jenny’s own artworks, but she was absolutely charming and her useful recommendations for restaurants and places of interest was invaluable. We loved Whanganui and especially the beautiful surrounding country and the NZ Glass Works and Rick Rudd’s Museum of Studio Ceramics were unexpected highlights. Highly recommended.
