"Hotel Sofia is on the 2nd floor, impossible to get in without a code, no one to help us... no more staff at reception. I suppose we were forgotten in the schedule. Well located, that's all. Second stay, the return, the welcome was nothing special, we were in a small room under the eaves without a window, a room for employees but with newly renovated bathrooms, noises of pipes and pigeons. What a welcome!!!!"

"I like quirky, bijou hotels. This one was perfect. It isn't hard to find on Google Maps, but it does hide behind a big, (to some perhaps uninviting) street door where you buzz for access. Walk down the passage and take the stairs to lift. The hotel is on the first and second floor of the building. Once through the door, you enter another world. The receptionists Simone & Anastasia speak several languages and all the staff are really lovely, friendly and helpful. All the walls - bedrooms, corridors and public rooms feature original artworks. It's as if you are a private art gallery. Bedrooms have ornate, high ceilings which have been beautifully restored. The rooms are fine, beds were comfortable but remember this isn't a hotel where you are going to spend your day. Continental breakfast had a good range of choices and could be eaten indoors or al fresco on the terrace with the Jacaranda blossom. We were leaving on a very late flight and the hotel was happy for us to leave our luggage, relax on the conference room settees and use their facilities for a wash after checkout while waiting for our departure. It's well situated on bus routes including the Alibus to the airport. There are plenty of opportunities for food and drink close by. I'd book again if returning to Catania."

"Our 24-hour stay in Catania was very disappointing; nothing lived up to our expectations. The hotel's location was the only saving grace, but unfortunately, that was the only positive point. The room had a ceiling only 1.75 meters high, a window the size of an A4 sheet of paper, and a non-functional air conditioner."

"Our flight was late. We arrived at hotel very late, but they waited for the check-in. They were very nice and comfortable! We were very impressed. The room was also very clean and beautiful. The staff were very patient and willing to show us all the details. And breakfast was really delicious and fresh! We will certainly come back next time!"
