We are very lucky to be situated on Brighton’s seafront. As unparalleled as it is though, we are in a city which offers as much nightlife as day life and so silence at night can never be guaranteed. Whilst we can certainly do our best to control internal noise, what happens off the premises is a little more difficult for any hotel along the Kings Road to control. Still, I am sorry it had such an impact on your stay. Brighton has such a lot to offer, and we would be happy to talk to you about perhaps finding a room in a quieter part of the hotel.Plans have been approved by Brighton City Council & various historical trusts for The Old Ship Hotel to undergo a major renovation (full details & dates to be confirmed).I sincerely apologise and hope you keep in contact with us so we may be able to improve on your next stay with us.Kind regardsNick BagshawDuty Manager

While we take immense pride in preserving the rich heritage and charm of the property, we also recognise the importance of ensuring that our accommodations meet the modern standards expected by our guests. Our lifts were installed in 1920 (maintained on a regular basis), they are fully working but a little slower compared to modern lifts.Plans have been approved by Brighton City Council & various historical trusts for The Old Ship Hotel to undergo a major renovation (full details & dates to be confirmed). The renovation will include upgrading our lifts and all areas of the hotel.Perhaps sometime in the future, when the hotel has undergone some refurbishment, you might consider giving us another try.Kind regardsNick BagshawDuty Manager

We’re glad to hear that you were satisfied with your experience.I can confirm that we intend to do a full refurbishment of the hotel, and as such, a design has been created, and currently, the extensive works are out for tender. The tendering process can be lengthy, and as such, we do not have a definite date of when we will be in a position to agree on a contractor/contractors who will carry out the works. We intend to keep trading and operating throughout the development, and as such, it will be business as usual. Whilst we appreciate that our traditional nature is not to everyone’s taste, we are always deeply sorry when anything happens to spoil the excitement of our guests stay. We strive to be transparent about all fees and charges, we do state on all our booking sites such as Booking.com/Expedia and our own website that there is a charge for parking at the hotel. Unfortunately, Brighton has become a very expensive place to park. Our pricing is very competitive with similar properties in this area and we feel that we offer good value given our central city seafront location and facilities.We are the oldest hotel in the city of Brighton dating back to the year 1559. The Old Ship has the lucky advantage of being able to accommodate a car park for our guests (due to the space in previous years being a stable for horses & reconfigured for cars in the 1920's).
