A unique and beautiful hotel with its own distinct style of decor. We always stay at Grande Hotel del Mare when attending the Formula 1 in Monaco. This little oasis offers a wonderful respite from the noise and crowds of Monaco’s Formula 1-filled streets. The hotel boasts a very special decor with antiques from around the world. The outdoor areas are stunning, featuring a pool, a tropical garden leading down to the sea, and a private beach with a bar/café. There is a lovely restaurant serving high-quality food, a piano bar with live music in the evenings, a well-equipped fitness room, and a small but delightful spa area. Grande Hotel del Mare is a wonderful and unique retreat, providing a delightful oasis and an exceptional hotel experience.

would leave a 5 star,even they don’t have a beach and it’s impossible to swim because of rocks and access to the beach is very difficult,but they don’t advertise it! The hotel itself knew better days, definitely not 5 stars.But I would swallow all those things if I didn’t have an interaction with Arshad front desk receptionist.He was acting nasty arrogant even belligerent when I approached before leaving to clarify hidden charges.It was a scary and very disappointing experience for us regular Italy visitors.Italians are famous for welcoming ,but that was not the case with Arshad.He was pretending that he is the boss.If front desk allowed to speak with guests like that,it gives very bad impression on management.Front desk called after with apologies but unfortunately aftertaste is left.I would not recommend this place for stay.

Beautiful pricey property in a charming small town. We spent a week there and it was the perfect choice for us the multiple facilities meant that there were always options for something to do, and the property is very unique plenty of small nooks and corners to explore. I wouldn’t recommend it for children Staff are professional yet have a warm human quality, perfect representation of italian hospitality When you book make sure to book direct you’ll get a better offer, also make sure you ask for a renovated room because some are still dated, if you can get a room with club access do it, its a brilliant concept

With my partner we decided to spend some time in Italy and in France, we find this hotel, recensions looked nice so we booked some day’s in this hotel, and were not dissapointed, room and the views were very nice, hotel very quiet, breakfast very tasty, service very good, and fast. We ate lunch in hotel and also outside of hotel to try something different. 5 min drive and you are in center of city. But food at hotel was somehow better. Especially service. We tryed also hotel gym, is included in price, and also parking place for our rented car. There was also pianist playing music in evenings. Tea time with cakes, free candies. Lots of nice touches that makes experience even nicer. There is also hotel beach, that is also included in price. We love having bath in the sea. For those who don’t there is also pool. Only thing maybe that I should change is, make a bigger pool. But since I am a sea watter and beach person, I don’t care. But quite some people liked staying at that pool. Still is not crouded. My boyfriend really liked the quietness everywhere. Deffinitely should love to came back here in future. From nice aeroport we needed 45 min. So is perfect.

This hotel is like an old lady. She’s a bit faded and not what she used to be, but you need to respect her for her knowledge and experience. She knows how to treat her customers; It’s clean, really nice beds and the breakfast is amazing. The view is spectacular, but the whole place feels a bit run down.

Currently a guest at the Grand Hotel Del Mare in Bordighera and second to none, I have hust had the worst check in experience it's possible to have at a 5 star hotel. Was almost overcharged by 100% of the price of my confirmed rate. Had to challenge it and show her my booking! Not made to feel at all welcome when I arrived , instead I was greeted by a mildly argumentative receptionist and was told, well, we don't make the rules, 'you've got the room you've got because you booked through ***********' - as if that's just the worst thing in the whole world! I reminded her nicely that I was still €400 per night for 2 rooms over a 3 night stay! Had to request to speak to the manager after my beautiful children were put in a room with a metal construction in front of a window - the sea surrounds the hotel. Just dreadful! Sets the tone of the stay even before we've started. In and amongst the arguing, I had to remind her to please hand over the keys! Absolutely dreadful!!

Very enjoyable relaxing five star stay. The hotel has an old world charm, far removed from the polished impersonal modern luxury hotels. The buffet breakfast included in the rate was probably the best I’ve seen in years. Excellent cocktails at the lounge bar. Extremely friendly and helpful staff, the GM went out of his way to accommodate our requests. The executive service is an added bonus if you want even more privacy. I highly recommend a stay here, you won’t be disappointed.

We booked two nights here while on a road trip in Europe. In all we stayed in ten hotels and this was by far the most expensive and old fashioned. On checking in we were told we had been 'upgraded', well we wouldn't have liked to see an unupgraded room. We believe the upgrading was giving us a room on the fourth floor so we did have a very good view out over the sea. However the room was small, old fashioned, no coffee maker or tea yet shelves of drinks and snacks we could pay inflated rates for. The bathroom was a complete disaster, small and cramped with a ridiculous cut down bath and a VERY awkward shower in it. The only hotel in ten that still had single use plastic bottles of toiletries. Everything was fancy, polished dark brown furniture, frilly lacey things everywhere, such a contrast to cheaper hotels we had stayed in elsewhere. I could faintly smell cigarettes in my pillow, not nice. We were given a big heavy key to the room, awkward to carry around. The prices were off the scale! Drinks were €20 each and the dinner menu expensive and uninspiring. Two points for very good wifi and a great view. Comfy bed, but all beds are comfy these days. One plus point was with the very expensive drinks you had very good aperifivi snacks, in fact they comprised our dinner on the second night. The staff were without exception helpful, polite and professional but white gloves on the waiter? Which century are we in? There was valet parking but €1099.50 for two nights was extreme. I think the title of the place gives it away.

Finally we are sorry that the room was not pleasant for you but this is one of the most standard and smallest room of the Resort. My sister and I got eaten alive by bed bugs. We booked the family room on the 3rd floor and we each have 100+ bites on our arms, legs, neck, back, chest, stomach, hands, and fingers. My mom slept in the separate room in the single bed and was spared. In the morning after we had already slept in the king-sized bed we saw dead bed bugs on one of the pillows. We showed the staff and they did nothing - didn’t even apologize. I never write reviews but felt it my duty to warn others.

Wonderful grand hotel in great location on the Mediterranean, just as one crosses from France into Italy, just off the motorway, but secluded so that the place is quiet and serene: beautiful pool and spa facilities, excellent breakfast buffet, valet parking, friendly porters, courteous and professional staff -- all in the charming village of Bordighera!

The Italian holiday promised to be good. Old but fancy and cared property, nice service, more older people that are used to quality and stability. Great breakfast, options to eat through out the day, beach service with beds, mattress, towels and umbrellas… clean sea. Air conditioning in rooms is good and not loud. Bed amenities just ok. BUT we faced problem- while away from hotel for just few hours, we were robbed. They simply took the safe and checked bags for cash. And you know- it seems everyone can enter the premises and do what he wants. Even if you can hear everything from corridor- it does not help someone to get into your room without notification, breaking the locker. We left a room and in 40 minutes someone was already trying to withdraw the cash from my card… I do not believe that the hotel workers or police were shocked. It makes me think that that is usual thing. So keep your eyes open. Have everything with you or on virtual accounts. God save Ukraine - we have everything in app. Sure, i lost very special jewelries, memories on the bracelets, money, pictures of beloved from parcel… that makes me cry. But I hope to finish our holiday without further looses. But five stars hotel is meant to be safe as a bank, or am I wrong? So no tips for good service. Am simply out of cash.

I was concerned about staying at the this resort because of some of the reviews; bottom line I will return again and again. The room was very comfortable and we had a comfortable bed. We had a balcony which was nice. The food was good and we took all our meals at the resort. Breakfast is spectacular, lunch was good plus. The location is wonderful in that you are surrounded by water and beautiful gardens. The hotel decor is very interesting in that there are several fine pieces of art and furniture. It is well decorated but maybe not to some people's taste- I found it well done for the look they were trying to achieve. BUT the absolute best thing are the staff that work at this resort-- everyone was so friendly pleasant and requests are taken care of instantly.

Positives, Lovely location. Excellent breakfast selection. Comfortable loungers and external seating. Lots of space. Negatives. Lack of atmosphere. Average food (breakfast apart) and very expensive. According to a member of staff, many guests sleep and eat breakfast in the hotel but shun the restaurant. Expensive drinks - 12 euros for half a glass of fresh orange juice by pool, Expensive ice cream by pool - 15 euros for 3 scoops or even 1 !! No free water in room - 5 euros for 1/4 litre (23 cents for 1/2 litre in supermarket). Intermittent wi-fi connection. Dead plants around perimeter of garden area. Maintenance man left key in the door. Nonchalant reaction. Horrendous pre-authorisation charge on checking in - uplift of 2/3rds on room rate, which effectively freezes a sizeable sum on the credit card. as this was not clearly explained on check-in, this resulted in an unacceptable delay on departure. On checking in there were issues with our rooms, which resulted in us having to pay for upgrades. We were advised that supplements were discounted but on checking subsequently, they were not. We requested a meeting with the General Manager, but in the ensuing 4 days of our stay, this did not materialise. Sadly, we left with a bad taste and will not be returning.

We were staying in the apartments below the hotel and decided to venture up, intrigued by its secluded driveway. The hotel is situated on top of an elaborate, concrete apartment condominium structure, all built over a railway tunnel, overviewing the Mediterranean from a lawn about six stories above sea level. Just for the futuristic architecture it’s worth to take a stroll trough the front desk and into the gardens. Too bad they decided to try and hide its beauty by stuffing it with pompous neo-classical art and furniture. If you’re a James Bond fan, this will take you right back to GoldFinger or Doctor Who!

Bellissima struttura, ci ho soggiornato un paio di volte. Camera ampia e curata nei minimi dettagli, parco stupendo e e curato. L’unico davvero accettabile di Bordighera. Ristorante buono, colazione importante. Ottima l’accoglienza per i cagnolini.
