Hotel Reine Mathilde

We thoroughly enjoyed our stayed here in May 2024. We booked a studio room and the room was spacious and had plenty of space for 2 large suitcases. The bathroom was also large and was well supplied. The bed was an American king sized bed. The location of the hotel is right in the middle of the town so we could walk everywhere. There is not hotel specific parking but there is public parking all around the hotel and we had no problem finding spots and paying the nominal fees to park. (roughly $10 a day to park) The breakfasts everyday had lots of choices. The hotel staff spoke perfect english and were very nice and welcoming. We can highly recommend!

Hotel Reine Mathilde was a great location for our 2 nights stay. It was easy to find walking from the train station and right near the Place de Quebec where the tours leave. We had a view of the cathedral out of our window, which was beautiful lit up at night. The hotel restaurant has a very nice breakfast buffet and was also a great place for dinner. I would definitely stay there again.

The location of this hotel is great.It is central and easily walkable to main sights in Bayeux. We were touring with Overlord Tours and it was a quick 1 minute walk to the departure location. The room itself was very small, but serviceable as a place to sleep. The attached restaurant served a decent breakfast and was nice for a dinner after a long day.

My teenage son & I spent two nights here in April while touring Normandy's D-Day coast. We stayed in very European-sized rooms not meant for much more than sleeping. That being said, they're perfect: comfy beds, warm showers and great breakfast. Entire space seems well-maintained and updated (WiFi was spotty in our room). Staff is accommodating, even carrying our bags to the 3rd floor. It's right at a 10 minute walk from the train station on paved sidewalks. The staging area for D-Day tours (Quebec Place) is a 1 minute walk out the back door and across a darling canal bridge. The cathedral is just up the street and the main shopping avenue is down a block. The location can't be matched... even mail your postcards right across the street!

Hotel Reine Mathilde was our Bayeux home for 2 nights in March. We stayed here because the price was in our range and because the photos online were appealing. I would stay here again because it is exactly what we want on vacation--Clean. Comfortable. Helpful staff. We booked 2 rooms in the "Stone and Water A**osphere" section. Our rooms overlooked the river. So pretty! We didn't eat breakfast here because we needed only a small breakfast of items that we bought around the corner at the grocery store. It was great having a small refrigerator and a coffee maker in the room! If we ever return to Bayeux (which I'd like to do!), I would probably stay in Bayeux longer and book the studio that is available in "Stone and Water" description on the website. I would enjoy having a kitchenette.

My wife and I stayed in Hotel Reine Mathilde for two nights. Great location in the middle of Bayeux within walking distance of restaurants and the train station. The hotel has comfortable, clean rooms. We stayed in a separate building in the back only a short walk from the main hotel.

Clean, freshly decorated, comfortable hotel in central location near Bayeux Cathedral, 5 mins to Bayeux Tapestry, 15 minutes walk to Bayeux memorial. Great brasserie on site - staff were friendly and helpful. No parking but you can use a drop off zone for 10 minutes outside the hotel and safe free parking 5 minutes walk away.

We loved this hotel. We had the Family Room on the top floor of a building that was a one minute walk from the main hotel, just across a very picturesque bridge over a small canal. The room was perfect for our family, with a large king bed, and two separate twin-sized beds for each of our two teens. Our teens are tall and slept on the two individual beds without issue. The room is arranged as two spaces separated by a bathroom in the middle, with a hallway connecting them. There is not a door separating the spaces due to the open hallway, but the two rooms are private to each other. The fourth bed was along the hallway area. The room was huge by American standards and especially by European standards. It was very clean, and well appointed with towels and water and such. The hotel staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful with some questions we had. Breakfast was excellent, and we enjoyed a drink at the bar in the evening. The room was also very quiet, with no street noise and no noise from the adjacent room. We stayed two nights, arriving late the first night and departing early in the morning after our second night, just to accommodate a daylong tour of the WWII sights nearby. I wish we had stayed an extra day to explore Bayeux; it was an adorable little town and we really loved walking around and exploring after our WWII tour. Overall this was an excellent stay, and our best hotel of our 12-day trip in Europe. Highly recommend.

Stopped here on a trip through France, and received the best service of all our hotels. Great location with nice patio restaurant in a prime location in Bayeux. Would go again in a heartbeat! Great experience, Bayeux as a whole is a can't miss, and Reine Mathilde is a must stay
