The worst 5 star hotel in BKK. Comparing other affordable 5-star hotels like Hua Chang Heritage, affordability is an extremely poor excuse for the horrendous service rendered. Hua Chang is even cheaper and better location.
First, when booking the hotel, they left a special request open for choosing. I specifically chose high level and away from lift. What's the point of booking this hotel way in advance only to end up on the lowest level and right next to the lift?? Every day, it was just the annoying honking of traffic. Wifi in the room is terrible, sometimes it stops working. It was down on our first day.
On 1st day we discovered that the toilet bidet has overly strong pressure. We went to the reception to ask them to send a technician. They said technician is off duty, will fix next morning. We asked for a change in room, the reception could only claim full house, we have only one room to move you to, but the room has broken window, still can stay because nothing else in the room is spoiled. I wonder if he was joking, so we rejected and he said, why not you try to ask again tomorrow, we have guests checking out blah blah.
On 2nd evening, I realized that the jacuzzi is so useless, even a masseur has stronger hands than the jets of the jacuzzi. The water in the tub did not even bubble from the weak pressure. We reported the faulty bidet and jacuzzi jets to the reception because they did not bother fixing the bidet as promised. The reception had the great idea to tell us then that there's an issue with hot water. Every night, there is almost no hot water from both the shower and jacuzzi.
From 3rd day, housekeeping was poorly done. No face towel was given. The motion sensor lights at the door flicker on and off all the time even when we are not nearby. It is so creepy. The aircon turns off by itself every now and then and it was so warm. The bathroom has no doors so you can enjoy the water running everywhere. Poor concept. The room is so dark too.
On our day of checkout, the reception insisted that we took drinks from the minibar. They attempted to charge us 80 baht even when we said no, we did not take anything. They refused to let us leave and i demanded to see the guy who checked us in. After some time, they called housekeeping only to find out that housekeeping did not stock the coconut juice in the fridge. So housekeeping wrote that we took the drinks instead. I was not even aware that there were such drinks in the fridge because the fridge was also faulty and leaking water. Reception then said our mistake, it's OK, no need to pay. What a joke. Obviously we don't have to pay for the things WE DID NOT UTILIZE.
Overall, this is a poor excuse of a 5 star hotel. If you want good service, go to Banyan Tree. If you want to face a nightmare in BKK, go to Maduzi. The reception is not well trained at all, and I can easily say so because I come from a hospitality background. Only the staff at the bar is polite. I have witnessed the reception being very friendly with non-Asians, and that should be the reason that this hotel even receives its good ratings. In terms of Bangkok's hospitality, this is not a 5 star at all. The owner ought to improve the team at Maduzi. 0 stars from me.
