Hattvika Lodge

It was better than OK. But having stayed there, even a pretty good experience IRL couldn't live up to the hyped up expectations, which had been built up by their awesome website. We stayed in one of the newer cabins. Everything in the cabin was modern and clean and uncluttered -- the cabin delivers the whole Scandinavian aesthetic, so yes it felt special. If you go in the summer, it was hot in the cabin each afternoon with the sun, if that bothers you. Breakfast is funky in that it comes with a lot of earnest instruction and interruptions. It was well-intentioned but we both felt like children being told what to try. We are super adventurous, but man, we just wanted to eat breakfast -- so we could get out the door to our hike, kayak, etc. So for us, it wasn't the time to try all these different types of cod liver oil, cheeses, juices, etc. If you don't mind that or it actually sounds appealing, then we recommend breakfast. The view where they serve breakfast was a pleasure to take in. Finally, we really appreciate their commitment to the environment and local resources -- as well as how their operations including recycling are so well kept and caringly managed. Thank you Hattvika for caring so much in everything you do!

The quality, atmosphere, and aesthetic of Hattvika Lodge and its restaurant, Fangst, is absolutely unparalleled and sets itself apart from anything else in Lofoten. They were able to achieve the perfect balance of coziness and modernity, and peacefulness without being too sleepy. Thank you, again, for such a wonderful stay!

We celebrated our honeymoon at Hattvika Lodge and could not have picked a better place to go! The views from the property are stunning. Our cabin was perfect and cozy. The offerings for their breakfast buffet and dinner menu are top notch. The location could not have been more perfect in terms of ease - 20 minutes from the local airport - Leknes. And a few minutes' walk to the local grocery store. The staff and locals all are incredibly kind, generous and helpful. We hope to be back sooner than later! Absolutely everything about this place is wonderful. Located in a quite corner of land on the water, we stayed in one of the restored cottages that had a great view. The room itself was very comfortable and well appointed. A highlight was the food. Most of the tables are along a big window with a gorgeous view of the water. We saw sea eagles from our table. Of equal importance, the qualify of the food was outstanding! Finally, while we had guides to the area, we relied quite a bit on the owner for hiking and driving route recommendations. Every recommendation was spot on. We also did a privately guided kayak trip through the lodge that was outstanding.

What an incredible place, our only regret is that we didn’t stay longer. From the moment we arrived we were impressed. Tim and Maria showed us to our hillside room that had a breath taking water front view. The room was very clean with lots of storage for clothing and gear. Our bed was very comfortable and situated below a skylight to allow for northern lights spotting. If you are an active person this is THE place to stay as you are surrounded by gorgeous hiking trails of all levels of difficulty. We did lots of hiking and even had a spectacular kayak tour with the owner, Christian, who gave us wonderful insight into the surrounding area (and recommended an afternoon hike that turned to be one of our best ever). 🙏

Absolutely loved our time at Hattvika Lodge. The only negative is we didn’t stay long enough by only staying 3 nights. The staff and owners were so kind and friendly. Our guides were the best! Book time with Roland. Make sure you do all of the activities from kayaking to hiking, swimming in the freezing water, sauna and even walking to one of the other local restaurants…. I believe there’s only one other restaurant. You are truly in a remote part of Lofoten islands so the fact they can accommodate you so well with such hospitality is incredible. This feels like an escape from the entire world and everything about it is perfect, especially the rich fishing culture and history.
