Vibrant & Cozy Apt in Athens

Pros: Beautiful and spacious 2 bedroom apartment with additional couch for a 5th person. Two bathrooms. All amenities one could ask for, including a usb plug for recharging electronics in case you don't have a plug adapter. Very clean and well kept. Very convenient for metra and bus connections. Cons: the owner did not pursue getting my phone number prior to the trip and sent no instructions for entry. First, the arrival involved a 90 minute trauma (in very hot sun with luggage) of using the phone at a local cafe to call the owner, then using the cafe's wifi to receive two videos via WhatsApp which gave instructions for opening the lockbox outside to get the key (lockbox flips open, does not slide open). One must turn and hold the key to the right with one hand while pressing the outer door with the other hand to enter the building. Second, I didn't know (and wasn't told) that the very long second video gives detailed instructions (not just on entry) on use of the apartment, including how to use the laundry and how to turn on the breakers for warm water in the shower. At 6:30 am, I took cold showers, and on the last day, when I complained, the owner chastised me for not watching all the way to the end of the 2nd video. All this would have been averted by detailed written instructions prior to arrival. Seriously, if all these instructions had been sent prior to arrival (written, not in a video which one must have internet connection to watch immediately on arrival in the country), I would have no complaints. It is a great location and beautiful apartment. BTW, no can opener.
